Short-head winner of a 2m4f handicap hurdle for this rider at Ballinrobe in May (beat Polar Present). Raised 6lb for that success which is a worry, and down in trip which almost certainly wouldn't appear ideal.
Raised 10lb for his 5L romp at Punchestown in late May (2m). That success came on his debut for this trainer (a winner for Nigel Twiston-Davies in October 2016). Struggled in a stronger race latest (sixth to Plinth in a Grade 3 contest) and looks vulnerable.
Two time hurdles winner who handles cut. Finished 5L third to St Stephens Green over C&D in May (never nearer), and has run a solid enough race on the Flat at the Curragh since to enter the equation despite his 3lb higher mark.
Has run some of his best races at this track including during the July Festival so the County Kerry air clearly suits. Handicapped to be competitive from this mark and seemingly kept ticking over on the Flat when third in a 1m4f handicap at Dundalk last week.
Won a 25 runner 2m maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse in April by 9L, and although twice a runner up in competitive handicaps at Leopardstown prior to that over the winter months, those efforts were from much lower marks. Needs to produce a career best and trainer also saddles The Plan Man.
Not out of the frame on his last seven starts, winning three times including from a career high mark at Wexford in late June. That narrow success came in a weaker race, and he's upped another 5lb making it 19lb in total since winning at Down Royal in January.
Kept busy over fences and on the Flat since her last run over hurdles at Leopardstown in January (finished well behind Tudor City). Has the necessary ability if excessive rain arrives.
An improving mare who has earned a crack at this company, and her hat-trick was thwarted under penalties when going down by ¾L to Ask Susan at Down Royal late last month. Good ground is ideal. Respected in a stronger race.
Won a couple of lower grade 2m handicap hurdles during the month of May at Kilbeggan and Wexford, but beaten from this mark (third) the following month. Had a go over fences since and looks high enough in the weights for now.
Three-year-old conditions hurdle winner at Moulins (France) on debut in September 2015, and ended that campaign down the field in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival. Moved on and tailed off on stable debut in December. Absent since, so the market looks the best guide.
Won twice during October 2016 (Gowran and Galway), but has taken a cumulative 20lb rise in the weights. Off since racing at Cork in December (soft to heavy), and whilst fitness must be taken on trust, any rainfall should suit.
Front runner who mixes chasing and hurdling and has run respectably in both spheres over the last year. Looks prepped for a summer campaign, but not for today needing to build markedly on his effort at Tipperary in May.
Young pretender who created a positive impression when winning at Ballinrobe in early May and shaped okay when sixth to St Stephens Green over C&D in May (The Plan Man third, Swamp Fox fourth). Will win more races in a slightly lesser grade.
A versatile mare (Flat, hurdles and chase winner), and she won over fences at the Killarney July Festival in 2016. A major surprise if she's capable of playing a hand in this contest at the age of ten.
Dead-heated with Silken Thomas in a Down Royal maiden hurdle in late May, and never nearer on his handicap debut at Limerick more latterly, but this looks tough for one so inexperienced.
Forecasts
Is She Diesel (9/2), The Plan Man (13/2), Camlann (7/1), Swamp Fox (8/1), Time For Mabel (8/1), Dodgybingo (8/1), Moonday Sun (10/1), All's Quiet (12/1), Solita (14/1), Buster Dan Dan (16/1), Copy Print (20/1), Mr Picotee (20/1), Tudor City (25/1), Lilly The Lioness (25/1), Le Curieux (25/1)
A fascinating handicap hurdle in which there would appear any number of possible winners. The Plan Man looks an obvious contender, and is the pick of the Tony Martin duo, whist the likes of Is She Diesel and Dodgybingo are younger horses on an upward trajectory who should be around in these type of contests for many years to come. Swamp Fox, Moonday Sun and Camlaan all have fairly recent winning form, but the suspicion is that the handicapper has their respective measures now, so a chance is taken on TIME FOR MABEL who seems ideally suited to racing at Killarney and has had a sharpener or two on the Flat of late.
- Time For Mabel
- The Plan Man
- Is She Diesel
