A sole success over fences (Perth, 2m good) is all that has been recorded in 30 attempts under NH rules. Not able to get competitive from off the pace when switched to hurdles at Huntingdon late last month, and now heads back over the larger obstacles.

Now a 12 race maiden, and beaten 12L by Lofgren at Kelso last month (2m1f good). However, only with this trainer for a couple of starts (ex French racer), and could do better now if stronger in terms of fitness with tongue tie retained.

Entitled to have needed his comeback last month (C&D) when a fairly distant fourth to Vodka Wells, as that was his first run since October 2016. A four time winner over fences and races from a declining mark (99).

Moderate over hurdles but has really found his calling since switched to fences. Built upon a pleasing Exeter second to Seven Kingdoms in April by staying on steadily to score by 2L at Towcester last month. Versatile in terms of underfoot conditions and the forecast ground looks ideal. Major player from a likely prominent racing position.

A frustrating sort who so often doesn't deliver at the business end of a race, but has probably displayed his best side at this track as shown when winning here over 2m4f in September 2015. Should be sharper for his recent seasonal reappearance (third), and that winner has won since.

Both of her career victories have come over C&D on good ground from marks in the high 70's. Whilst she has retained her form since winning in April, a revised mark of 87 has just looked beyond her, but she should at least be suited by dropping back in trip (runner up to Dica over 2m4f latest).

18 race maiden, but already on the premises at this track in 2017. Beaten 5½L by Miss Conway in April (third), and today's revised terms give him claims. However, he took a significant backward step latest and looks well held by Brother Scott on that evidence.

Yet to threaten in nine attempts over fences (15 if including Point-to-Points) and difficult to see where he is going to find enough improvement from at the age of nine to buck that trend. A winning hurdler for Gordon Elliott, but quickly regressing. Plummeting in the weights (Rated 95 in May 2016, now just 71).

Reverse The Chargep14
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Amie Waugh(7)| T: Mrs J Walton| OR:  70
12/1
24 race maiden who didn't appear suited by a step up in trip to 3m latest. Better over 2m4f here previously (fourth of ten to No Such Number), and likely to try similar forcing tactics from the front now dropped to 2m.

Rhythm Of Soundv114
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  69
50/1
12 race maiden, and never competitive over 3m here earlier in the month (pulled up). Likely to struggle over this much shorter distance, with the first time visor applied as his trainer seeks to arrest a seemingly rapid decline since initial minor promise over hurdles.

Forecasts

Bestwork (85/40), Miss Conway (11/4), Brother Scott (9/2), Martiloo (9/1), Reverse The Charge (12/1), Wot A Shot (14/1), Warksburn Boy (16/1), Ballycool (20/1), The Ice Factor (33/1), Rhythm Of Sound (50/1)

Verdict

An ideal opportunity for the Charlie Longsdon trained six-year-old BESTWORK to follow up his Towcester success despite a 6lb rise in the weights. He seems versatile in terms of ground conditions and appears to have found his true vocation since switched to fences. Miss Conway will undoubtedly run her race, but is fractionally high in the handicap, whilst time is still on the side of Martiloo now with Pauline Robson. Of the outsiders, Reverse The Charge could shape better than his form suggests if allowed to bowl along prominently over this minimum trip.
  1. Bestwork
  2. Miss Conway
  3. Reverse The Charge
