Won a decent Perth novices' handicap hurdle a couple of seasons ago from 4lb higher than today's opening chase mark, so claims if in that sort of form. Went well back at that venue on his most recent start (3m, good) and with a clear round he looks a likely player. Has never won on ground faster than good to soft.
A good run from Apache Pilot earlier on the card would boost his chance after he gave that horse 4lb and a 6L beating when they met here a couple of weeks ago. All three of his wins have been over C&D, that last one on good ground, so from 10lb higher he remains one to have plenty of respect for.
Has made the frame just one from 11 starts, that being here over 2m4f (good) in the maiden hurdle on this card last year. 29L last of six on his chase debut at Sedgefield last time and while he clearly goes well here, he has plenty to prove.
Was a 5L runner-up over C&D (soft) in March last year when 3lb higher, which offers some encouragement for his return to this venue. However, he is unproven on a sound surface and there wasn't a huge amount of promise in his return from an 11-month absence at Carlisle in March.
0-12 under rules with his only 'win' ending in disqualification. That was over 3m on good to soft and from 8lb lower. Has been competitive a few times recently without winning and now tries a visor after both cheekpieces and blinkers failed to bring success. Yard going well enough and should be thereabouts.
Yet to win a race but was going well when falling over C&D two starts ago and stayed on well enough over shorter when putting in a clear round last time. 4lb lower today and now looks very interesting on this step back up in trip.
35-race maiden who has made the frame several times over hurdles, including when being beaten 16L on both his last two starts. Very long in the tooth to be making his chase debut and from 7lb out of the handicap and others preferred.

Not a race to dwell on for too long and MEDAL OF FREEDOM looks worth chancing. He was going well over C&D when falling two starts ago and with confidence restored over shorter last time he could come good. Johnny Go could make a good fist of it on his chase debut, while Hattons Hill is feared despite his hike in the weights, purely because he thrives here. Inchcolm is another who should be in the shake-up for prize money.
