Has run some nice races over fences recently, but has looked handicapped to prevent him from winning. On a similar mark to those efforts today, and could just come up short again.
Finished a close second last time having been 28L behind Limini in a Listed race over hurdles the time before that. Leading claims based on that form.
Won a chase in impressive style at Down Royal last May, but has been less convincing recently, including when beaten 52L over C&D in December. May be a spring horse, in which case he would have a chance in this.
Pulled up at Leopardstown last time in a race where Emcon finished a close second, but that looked more down to a bad mistake than anything else. Previously fifth in the Kauto Star at Kempton and has to be a big player here on form.
Won at Limerick two starts ago (at odds of 10/1), but has been underwhelming in almost all his recent starts other than that. Will need to show that winning form once again here off 4lb higher.
Disappointed when pulled up last time at Punchestown, but that run looks too bad to be true. On the basis of his impressive victory at Thurles the time before he could be involved here if coping well with the step down in trip.
Last time out winner in a handicap hurdle who switches back to fences having previously run well in this discipline, including when winning at Limerick last May.
Won at Punchestown two starts ago before running slightly below par the last twice. Claims if returning to his best form off what looks a workable mark.
Returns from a break of almost two years, before which he was running some consistent races and looking potentially well handicapped. The long lay-off is enough of a negative this time round, but will be interesting going forward.
Lightly raced for his age but hasn't shown too much to get excited about in his starts so far. Steps back up in trip.
Looks interesting for this on the basis of a close second at Wexford last time. Remains on the same mark and could go close if replicating that performance.
Was in fine form this time last year but has seemed a little regressive since. Handicap mark may be a little too high at present and seems to be best watched here.
Refused to race last time having dead-heated for first in a race over shorter here in December. Always seems to run his race and is a contender if getting over last time's episode.
Hasn't won a race here since a chase in January 2011, and though he hasn't been running without any hope on his recent starts, he still looks liable to be outclassed by a few here.
Won last May but has struggled to show his best form since then, including when being beaten by 30L at Punchestown last time (3m, soft to heavy).
Hasn't looked the force of old since returning from a prolonged break recently, and though his performance last time out was more like it, he's entitled to find a few too good once again.
Finished a relatively close fourth over hurdles last time but switches back to fences here. Looks likely to be outclassed by a few of these on recent form.
Forecasts
Flemenstorm (6/1), Whatareudoingtome (7/1), Emcon (7/1), Lisclogher Lad (8/1), Ad Idem (9/1), Stoughan Cross (11/1), Vent De La Cote (11/1), Hurricane Darwin (12/1), Who's That (12/1), Net D'Ecosse (14/1), Cecil Corbett (14/1), Kayf Supreme (14/1), Smokey Joe Joe (16/1), Thecraicisninety (16/1), Arthamint (16/1), Guiding George (20/1), Ardmillan (20/1)
This is a competitive enough handicap chase in which NET D'ECOSSE looks the one to be on. His pulling up at Leopardstown last time can be largely disregarded given the circumstances it happened in, and he is possibly the one with the best form in the book, including finishing fifth in Tea for Two's Kauto Star Chase. Emcon, who won that race at Leopardstown last time, could be the one to give him most to think about, ahead of Kayf Supreme, who should be able to overcome a disappointing run last time which looked too bad to be true.
- Net D'ecosse
- Emcon
- Kayf Supreme
