All three career starts to date have come on the Polytrack, but he has seemingly improved with each outing. Possibly didn't quite get home over 1m at Lingfield last month when mowed down by Mori Yoshinari, and that's a concern at this stiffer track with the 2016 Champion Apprentice taking over in the saddle.
Never threatened in finishing 8L fifth of nine on debut as a juvenile over 7F at Redcar in August 2016. This step up in trip should suit based upon that limited evidence on his AW debut.
€34,000 foal who was far from disgraced in finishing fourth of ten (25/1) over 1m on debut at Redcar in October. Switches to the AW for owners who have enjoyed plenty of success with the likes of Mondialiste, and looks certain to give a decent showing.
In rear throughout and well beaten when last of eleven on debut at Chester in August 2016. This test is very much different, and can probably be given a clean slate to start again now gelded.
Finished last of five on her debut at Wolverhampton (7F) last month, but it's worth noting that two of those rivals in front of her fought out a finish to a maiden at this track last week (Rutherford and Dusky Maid). Needs to improve to be involved.
Has finished last in two career starts at this track this month, and is surely competing here in order to qualify for a handicap mark. Impossible to fancy, with inexperienced rider booked.
Forecasts
Oud Metha Bridge (6/5), The Grey Warrior (5/4), Zacchetto (6/1), Prancing Oscar (33/1), Play With Me (50/1), R U Mine (100/1)
A very weak maiden in which the slowly improving Oud Metha Bridge should take a deal of beating under the excellent Josephine Gordon. However, the nagging doubt with the Ed Dunlop trained three-year-old is his stamina over this stiff mile (based upon his last run at Lingfield), and those doubts are just enough to give THE GREY WARRIOR the nod. Kevin Ryan has a fine record at this track since the switch to Tapeta, and if showing the expected improvement from his October Redcar debut, the Geoff and Sandra Turnbull owned runner looks worth chancing with only one serious rival to beat.
- The Grey Warrior
- Oud Metha Bridge
- Prancing Oscar
