Wolves have completed the signing of Portugal international right-back Nelson Semedo from Barcelona for £29m.
After letting Matt Doherty go to Spurs, Wolves have plugged that gap by signing the 26-year-old Semedo on a three-year deal, with the option of a further year.
Semedo moves to Molineux after three years and 124 appearances for Barcelona, and joins the Premier League's Portuguese outpost under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“I chose Wolves because it’s a very good team that plays very good football," Semedo told the club’s website.
“Last year they had a very good season and it’s a very important team in England, in also Europe. I hope this year we can do very good things.”
Semedo is looking forward to linking up with a host of his fellow Portuguese, including coach Nuno who has made such a big impact at the club.
“Coach Nuno is a very good coach. He did very good things here at Wolves, and at other teams too," said Semedo. "For sure, I’m going to learn a lot from him.”
The move will also unite Semedo, who has won 13 caps for Portugal, with a number of international team-mates.
He said: “I talked with some of them and they told me very good things about the club, about the team. I hope I can help them to succeed too.”
It's the latest move in a flurry of late business being done by Wolves at the back end of the transfer window, having sold forward Diogo Jota to Liverpool for £41m and signing Reds youngster Ki-Jana Hoever.
The also splashed out a club-record fee of £35m for Porto striker Fabio Silva and brought in Fernando Marcal from Lyon.
