Super 6 £1million winner Grace Berry: I thought it was a joke

The first-ever Super 6 millionaire "thought it was a joke" when she was first told that she had landed the bumper payout.

Grace Berry, 24, of Shoreham-on-Sea in West Sussex, initially hung up when she was telephoned by the organisers of the free-to-play game, Sky Sports.

However, she soon realised that her six football score predictions had been good enough to claim the £1million jackpot.

Grace now plans to buy a house with her winnings which she formally received from Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling at a Hampshire mansion.

The Manchester United supporter said: "It was amazing, I thought it was a joke when Super 6 phoned me to tell me I’d won. I still can’t believe it!

"It just something you don’t expect - ever. I was totally shell-shocked."

Jeff Stelling and Paul Merson meet the first ever Super 6 Millionaire!

The Super 6 game asks players - of which there were more than 1.4million on Saturday - to guess the scores of six of the weekend’s football matches, for a jackpot prize of £250,000.

However, the usual jackpot was quadrupled to £1million for the start of the season and it had to be won by September 9, meaning that Grace’s 24 points (for four correct scores and two correct results), plus correctly guessing the sixth minute as the Golden Goal tiebreaker, was enough to make her the first Super 6 millionaire.

Grace’s score left her tied with two other players, who both received a £25,000 consolation prize, after Jack Rodwell’s 94th-minute consolation goal for Sunderland against Sheffield United knocked out another player and took her to the top of the leaderboard.

She added: "My boyfriend (Matt Rix) helped me to pick the results and we chose the sixth minute for the golden goal because our anniversary is on June 1 (1/6)."

That guess was spot on thanks to Danny Welbeck's strike in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

In addition to Saturday's payout, a total of £2.3million was given away by the game last season.

The Super 6 jackpot returns to £250,000 for this coming Saturday’s round of fixtures. You can enter your predictions for free at https://super6.skysports.com
