Terriers defender ruled out with knee injury

Huddersfield defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury on international duty.

Stankovic sustained damage to his anterior cruciate ligament while away with the Slovenia Under-21 side last week and is looking at a rehabilitation period of around eight to 10 months.

"We're all disappointed for Jon that he has suffered this injury and now we offer him our full support as he begins his recovery," Huddersfield boss David Wagner told the club's official website.

"He is a very exciting young talent, which has been obvious to everyone when he has been out on the pitch for us this season. He's quickly adapted to English football and has shown that he has so much to offer.

"Jon's challenge now is to come back fitter and stronger than ever before. He is a strong and determined character, so I know this will be the case."

Stankovic joined Huddersfield from Borussia Dortmund last summer and has made 12 appearances for the Terriers this season as they have challenged for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
