March award winners in the Sky Bet EFL

Tom Barkhuizen and Paul Lambert have won the Sky Bet Championship's March awards, with Bolton and Accrington cleaning up lower down.

Preston forward Barkhuizen, a January signing from League Two Morecambe, scored five goals in four games during March to help Simon Grayson's side to two wins and a draw.

Barkhuizen is the second successive North End player to win the award following Aiden McGeady's February honour, and Grayson said: "It's an unbelievable achievement.

"It was fantastic for Aiden McGeady to win it last month, but then Tom has come into the team and hit the ground running as if he has been playing in the Championship for the last five years. He's done exceptionally well."

Barkhuizen said: "You don't get too many months like that, it's not often that everything just seems to come together. I know that you have to enjoy it will you can because there will be times when it's not like that."

The Championship' Manager of the Month award went to Paul Lambert, whose Wolves side closed March with three straight wins to move clear of the relegation places.

Lambert said: "It's really pleasing to win the award. First and foremost, I've got to thank the players, they're the ones that actually play the games and get results and they've come through a little sticky patch."

Bolton' fine March was recognised with both League One awards, boss Phil Parkinson and Filipe Morais taking the honours.

Wanderers won five and drew on of their six games, and Morais was involved in 12 of their 17 goals a he scored twice and had 10 assists.

The League Two awards were another clean sweep as John Coleman and Shay McCartan were recognised for Accrington's stunning upturn in form.

Five wins and two draws left Stanley with an outside chance of making the play-offs, McCartan's six-goal haul featuring four free-kicks.
