Spain's LaLiga

Valencia's good form continued as they held high-flying Sevilla to a goalless draw in LaLiga.

Los Che had won their previous three games and, although they could not continue that run, it was another point gained.

Sevilla look safe in fourth place, but have gone off the boil and now sit three points behind Atletico Madrid after only one win from their last seven league games.

Espanyol's Leo Baptistao scored a brilliant injury-time winner to see off relegation-threatened Leganes.

The Brazilian, a second-half substitute, collected the ball from Hernan Perez with seconds left on the clock and produced a sublime lobbed finish to seal a 1-0 win.

Defeat leaves Leganes one place above the bottom three, while Espanyol moved ninth to stay within touching distance of the Europa League slots.

Victory at Estadio Municipal de Butarque is a third win in four games for Quique Sanchez Flores' side.

Tony Adams' first match in charge of Granada ended in a comprehensive 3-0 defeat against a second-string Celta Vigo.

The former England defender took over the hotseat at the LaLiga strugglers earlier this week following the dismissal of Lucas Alcaraz.

Adams, who had been working with the club since November as part of his role with the Chinese owners, admitted Granada need a miracle to avoid relegation.

But there was no sign of that occurring on Sunday as Jozabed's first-half goal and second-half efforts from Marcelo Diaz and Claudio Beauvue clinched victory for Celta.

It looked a golden chance for Granada to take something from the game, with Celta's team selection very much focused on Thursday's Europa League quarter-final.

Celta take a slender 3-2 lead into their second leg against Genk, and goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez is the only player likely to keep his place.

But Granada could not take advantage and remain seven points adrift of safety with six games remaining.

Real Betis climbed up to 14th place with a 2-0 victory over Eibar.

The goals came at either end of the game, with Jonas Martin heading in Rafael Navarro's cross in only the second minute.

They wrapped up the points a minute from time with a breakaway goal finished off by Dani Ceballos.

The defeat ended a three-game winning run for Eibar and was a blow to their hopes of securing European football for next season.

Defeat leaves Leganes one place above the bottom three in LaLiga, while Espanyol moved ninth to stay within touching distance of the Europa League slots.

Victory at Estadio Municipal de Butarque is a third win in four games for Quique Sanchez Flores' side.

Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona saw off Real Sociedad 3-2 at the Nou Camp to keep up the pressure on LaLiga leaders Real Madrid ahead of El Classico.

With Madrid having earlier beaten Sporting Gijon after a late goal from Isco, the tension was firmly back on Luis Enrique's side who had lost their last two matches.

Messi drilled in the opening goal from 25 yards after 17 minutes and then added a somewhat fortunate second when the ball bounced in off his leg from a rebound.

Sociedad reduced the deficit through an own goal by Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti only for Paco Alcacer to quickly restore the hosts' advantage.

However, a neat finish by Xabi Prieto in first-half stoppage time set up a tense second period, as Enrique's men eventually got themselves back to winning ways as they prepare for two matches which could well define their campaign in Europe and at home.

Real Madrid snatched a snatched a dramatic 3-2 win at Gijon.

Croatian forward Duje Cop volleyed the hosts into the lead on 14 minutes, only for Real - who made some nine changes from the midweek Champions League win over Bayern Munich - to hit back quickly when midfielder Isco smashed the ball into the top corner.

Mikel Vesga's looping header put Sporting, who started the day five points adrift of safety, back in front at the start of the second half.

Zinedine Zidane's men, though, where level again just before the hour when Alvaro Morata nodded in at the back post.

Just when it looked like Sporting would hold on for a point, Isco drilled a low shot into the bottom left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Atletico Madrid kept themselves ahead in the battle with Sevilla for third place after a 3-0 win over bottom club Osasuna at the Vicente Calderon, but missed two late penalties.

Coach Diego Simeone opted to leave Antoine Griezmann on the bench, cautious ahead of next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg at Leicester.

Atletico swept into the lead on 30 minutes when Belgian midfielder Yannick Carrasco drove the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

It was 2-0 just after the start of the second half as Carrasco found the net again as he headed in a cross from Nicolas Gaitan at the far post.

Defender Filipe Luis added a third on the hour when he was picked out in the left side of the penalty area by Angel Correa.

Atletico missed the chance to further extend their advantage in a bizarre finish which saw two penalties missed during the final minutes.

First, Osasuna goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu brought down Correa, only to save Carrasco's spot-kick with two minutes left.

As the game headed into the 90th minute, the referee again pointed to the spot for handball by Osasuna substitute Miguel De las Cuevas.

Sirigu, though, guessed correctly again, diving to stop Thomas Partey's penalty into the bottom-left corner.

Deportivo La Coruna eased their relegation concerns after beating Malaga 2-0 to record their first victory in five games.

Depor had only picked up one point in four matches since stunning Barcelona 2-1 a month ago but second-half goals from Joselu and Pedro Mosquera helped them see off Malaga.

Joselu opened the scoring two minutes after half-time at the Riazor when he powerfully headed home a left-wing cross.

Substitute Mosquera added a second in the 67th minute with a close-range finish to earn Depor, who started the weekend just six points above the drop zone, a much-needed win.

On Friday night, Iker Muniain and Aritz Aduriz scored two apiece as Athletic Bilbao claimed a 5-1 victory against Las Palmas.

The Europa-League chasing hosts won for the fifth time in seven fixtures, having scored three times in the opening 18 minutes at San Mames against their mid-table opponents.

Aduriz, Athletic's 36-year-old striker, took his tally for the season to 22, while Muniain also bagged a brace after Mikel San Jose had opening the scoring in just the seventh minute.

The defender's free header from Ander Iturraspe's corner was quickly followed by Muniain's first, which came from a free-kick he managed to whip around Tana on the corner of the wall and into the net.

Pedro Bigas reduced the deficit by nodding in off the post but it was 3-1 in the 18th minute when Aduriz finished off a counter-attack by cleverly lifting the ball over goalkeeper Raul Lizoain from Inaki Williams' pass and turning home on the floor.

Muniain volleyed in another after the interval following more poor defending from the visitors and Aduriz got his second moments after Las Palmas kicked off again, having collected a pass from San Jose.

Italy's Serie A

Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A after they eased to a 2-0 victory at Pescara to strengthen their grip on a sixth successive Scudetto title.

A first-half brace from Gonzalo Higuain was enough for the league leaders to seal all three points - a result that leaves Pescara 12 points from safety with six matches to play at the bottom of the table.

AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata scored with the last kick of the match to snatch a point from arch-rivals Inter in a pulsating 2-2 derby draw.

Milan dominated the early exchanges but trailed 2-0 at the break following strikes from Antonio Candreva and Mauro Icardi in the last nine minutes of the first half.

Alessio Romagnoli prodded in eight minutes from time to give Rossoneri hope of a comeback before Zapata pounced on a Manuel Locatelli header to volley home in the seventh minute of stoppage-time and claim an unlikely point to remain two points ahead of Nerazzurri in sixth.

Roma slipped eight points behind Juventus in second place after being held to a 1-1 home draw by high-flying Atalanta.

Atalanta took the lead when Andrea Conti's left wing cross was met by a thunderous volley from Jasmin Kurtic, leaving Wojciech Szczesny static.

Edin Dzeko tapped into an empty net to equalise five minutes into the second half but could not get a winner as Giallorossi suffered a blow to their slim title chances while the visitors stay in fifth.

Napoli continue to snap at the heals of Roma after overwhelming Udinese 3-0 with all three goals at the Stadio San Paolo struck in the second half.

Dries Mertens opened the scroing when he collected a superb through ball and hit the target with an early strike from the edge of the area.

Allan displayed similar power as Napoli capitalised on poor defending and in the 73rd minute Jose Callejon wrapped up the win when he found the bottom left corner of the net as his team-mates poured through holes in a crumbling rearguard to continue a seven-game unbeaten run.

Luis Alberto scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Lazio a valuable point in their hunt for European football after drawing 2-2 at Genoa.

Giovanni Simeone headed the hosts ahead but Luca Biglia equalised on the stroke of half-time after he tapped home the rebound to his saved penalty.

Goran Pandev's header squeezed past Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha to put Genoa back in front before Alberto fired into the bottom corner in the first minute of added time.

A stoppage-time penalty from Manuel Pasqual moved Empoli five points clear of the relegation zone following a 2-1 success at Fiorentina.

Omar El Kaddouri put the visitors ahead at the break but Cristian Tello levelled with a fine finish halfway through the second half before Pasqual's late spot-kick winner.

Joao Pedro scored a brace for Cagliari as they stormed to a 4-0 win over Chievo, with Marco Borriello and Marco Sau also getting on the scoresheet.

A late Simy goal cancelled out Andrea Belotti's penalty to earn a 1-1 draw for relegation-threatened Crotone at Torino and it remained goalless in the match between Palermo and Bologna, with Erick Pulgar seeing red in the first half for the visitors.

Sassuolo ended a seven-match winless streak after they came from behind to beat Sampdoria 2-1.

Sampdoria took the lead in fortuitous fashion when Matias Silvestre's long-range effort deflected off team-mate Patrik Schick and wrong-footed goalkeeper Andrea Consigli before bouncing into the bottom corner.

Antonino Ragusa levelled four minutes after the break with a composed finish when he latched onto a defence-splitting pass from Lorenzo Pellegrini before Francesco Acerbi sealed a much-needed win by heading home Pellegrini's corner from close in.

Germany's Bundesliga

Jerome Gondorf's stoppage-time winner clinched Darmstadt a 2-1 home win against Schalke as the Bundesliga's bottom club staved off relegation for at least another week.

Darmstadt needed all three points to avoid the drop following Mainz's home win against Hertha Berlin on Saturday and midfielder Gondorf fired home in the third minute of time added on.

Victory for Darmstadt - only their fifth in the Bundesliga this season - lifts them to within 14 points of fourth-bottom Mainz with five games remaining, but they have a vastly-inferior goal difference.

Mario Vrancic had fired Darmstadt into an early lead, but Schalke hit back to equalise through Spanish defender Coke midway through the second half.

Darmstadt were given a let-off just before the hour mark when goalkeeper Michael Esser saved Schalke striker Guido Burgstaller's penalty after Aytac Sulu was deemed to have fouled Daniel Caligiuri.

Werder Bremen kept in touch with the Bundesliga's Europa League race as they came from behind to see off Hamburg 2-1 at Weser Stadion.

The away side took the lead after six minutes when Michael Gregoritsch headed home Aaron Hunt's cross.

Werder did not respond until just before the half-time break, Max Kruse meeting Fin Bartels brilliant ball to nod the equaliser.

Kruse turned creator 15 minutes from time, slipping in Florian Kainz, who slotted past Christian Mathenia.

Borussia Dortmund retained fourth place by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1.

Dortmund were the victims of an attack on their team bus before Tuesday's Champions League clash with Monaco, but they took just two minutes to open the scoring at Iduna Park through Marco Reus.

Marco Fabian scored a superb equaliser but Sokratis produced a spectacular strike before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed an emotional win.

Bayern Munich saw their lead at the summit reduced to eight points after being held to a goalless draw by 10-man Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.

The champions, who are closing in on a fifth successive domestic title, dominated the match but were denied by some resolute home defending, especially towards the end of the first half when a goal seemed inevitable.

But they also had themselves to blame with Germany international Thomas Muller and Philipp Lahm squandering glorious chances after the interval.

Relegation-threatened Leverkusen's hopes of upsetting the league leaders were dealt a blow when defender Tin Jedvaj was sent off in the 60th minute for receiving his second yellow card.

RB Leipzig tightened their grip on second place by crushing Freiburg 4-0 at the Red Bull Arena.

Naby Keita, reportedly a £26million transfer target for Liverpool, was shown an early yellow card but he helped Leipzig dominate a one-sided match.

Their control was reflected by first-half goals by Yussuf Poulsen and Timo Werner and then Keita added a third just six minutes after the interval before Diego Demme completed the rout.

Adam Szalai scored both goals as Hoffenheim built an early 2-0 lead against Borussia Monchengladbach – the prelude to an eight-goal thriller.

Jannik Vestergaard and Lars Stindl were on target to level the score, but Kerem Demirbay restored Hoffenheim's advantage in the 59th minute.

The thrills continued when Mark Uth make it 4-2 before Mahmoud Dahoud set up a grandstand finishing by pulling one back, only for Demirbay to seal a 5-3 win for Hoffenheim with a minute remaining.

Wolfsburg secured a potentially crucial 3-0 victory over fellow strugglers Ingolstadt.

A Markus Suttner own goal put Wolfsburg on course before Yunus Malli struck a second, Mario Gomez completing the scoring in the 81st minute.

Augsburg grabbed a lifeline in their battle against relegation by defeating Cologne 2-1 at WWK Arena.

Martin Hinteregger and Paul Verhaegh netted inside the opening 25 minutes, before an own goal from Philipp Max gave Koln a glimmer of hope that failed to materialise into anything tangible.

The relegation fears of Mainz were also eased after an own goal by John Anthony Brooks propelled them to a 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin.

France's Ligue 1

Crowd trouble forced an early end to the Ligue 1 clash between Bastia and Lyon following ugly scenes at the Stade Armand Cesari.

Videos online appeared to show the home fans entering the pitch to "attack" visiting players before the game, and further trouble at half-time forced the game to be abandoned at 0-0.

Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was caught up in the action, confronting three people - supposedly Bastia fans - on his way off the pitch before being escorted away as the melee continued.

Marseille kept up the pressure on Lyon after recording a 4-0 win over St Etienne.

Flaurian Thauvin finished smartly from inside the area following fine work down the left by Morgan Samson, before turning provider for Bafetimbi Gomis, who juggled the ball deftly before turning and firing in a volley past Stephane Ruffier.

Thauvin capped off a fine game with a superb solo goal shortly before the hour-mark. Despite appearing marginally offside, the former Newcastle man raced down the right wing before outwitting the defender and slotting a right-foot finish into the net.

Dimitri Payet added a fourth in the dying moments to cap a comfortable win and leave his side just a point off Bordeaux.

Younousse Sankhare grabbed the only goal as Bordeaux strengthened their grasp on a Europa League slot with a 1-0 victory at Nantes.

The sides were locked in stalemate until the 65th minute, when Francois Kamano won the ball on halfway and reached the edge of the area before teeing up Sankhare.

The Senegalese finished left-footed, though Maxime Dupe might have done better in the home goal.

The win ensures Jocelyn Gourvennec's side would end the round in fifth place and one step closer to continental competition next term.

Monaco restored their three-point lead over Paris St Germain at the summit of Ligue 1 after coming from behind to defeat Dijon 2-1 at Stade Louis II.

Cedric Varrault gave the visitors a surprise lead shortly before half-time when he bundled home after keeper Danijel Subasic failed to clear a long-range header.

Monaco clicked into gear in the second-half, first through a long-range free-kick by Nabil Dirar who drove an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

Radamel Falcao then nudged Dijon closer to relegation when he also beat keeper Baptiste Reynet with a free-kick.

Nice confirmed they will finish in at least third place in Ligue 1 after dispatching Nancy 3-1 at Allianz Riviera - already guaranteeing their best league performance for 40 years.

A 21st win of the campaign keeps up the pressure on the top two of Monaco and Paris St Germain with fourth-placed Lyon now unable to catch them.

Nancy took advantage of some comically poor defending to seize a 27th-minute lead, the home side's inability to deal with a routine corner enabling Maurice Dale to tap home from close range.

But 10 minutes before half-time Nice replied when Younes Belhanda showed persistence and extraordinary skill to thread a pass through the heart of the visiting defence.

There was still plenty for Mickael Le Bihan to do, but he expertly evaded one tackle and directed the ball past Guy Ndy Assembe.

A foul by Issiar Dia on Dalbert Henrique resulted in a penalty that Jean Michael Seri drilled down the middle to seize a 2-1 lead, before the Ivorian midfielder ended Nancy's resistance in the 86th minute.

Valentin Eysseric put him through on goal and he made no mistake as he found the far corner of the net.

Lorient failed to make any ground in their battle against relegation after losing 2-0 at Montpellier, succumbing to goals by Ryad Boudebouz and Isaac Mbenza to keep them in the bottom three.

Metz and Caen were unable to pull away from the drop zone after sharing a lively 2-2 draw at Stade Saint-Symphorien in which all four goals were scored in the second half.

Cheick Diabate appeared to have grabbed all three points for Metz in the 84th minute only for Ronny Rodelin to claim a share of the spoils for the visitors.

Guingamp sent Toulouse spinning to a 2-1 defeat through goals from Jimmy Briand and Alexandre Mendy, with Andy Delort's 67th minute penalty scant consolation.

Lille remained perilously close to the relegation zone after Ndombe Mubele and Giovanni Sio were on target in a 2-0 win for Rennes

Angel Di Maria's double saw Paris St Germain through a stern test against Angers as they won 2-0 on Friday night.

Angers coach Stephane Moulin had warned pre-match that an 8-0 defeat was on the cards if PSG were at their best, but his side held their own.

Though they trailed at half-time to Angel Di Maria's superb free-kick, they saw a Cheick N'Doye goal disallowed and then had several half-chances before Di Maria netted again late on.

Holland's Eredivisie

Ajax kept up the pressure on leaders Feyenoord in the race for the Eredivisie title by thrashing Heerenveen 5-1 at the Amsterdam Arena.

Frank de Boer's side remain one point behind Feyenoord, who are still looking over their shoulders with three games to play after they had earlier beaten Utrecht 2-0 to briefly move four points clear at the top.

Ajax fell behind to an early goal from Heerenveen striker Reza Ghoochannejhad, but hit back to lead 3-1 at half-time thanks to Nick Viergever, Matthijs de Ligt and Davy Klaassen, who took his tally to 17 for the season.

Kasper Dolberg converted a second-half penalty after he had been fouled by Morten Thorsby and David Neres added a late fifth for Ajax.

Feyenoord had earlier registered their 10th straight home league win by beating Utrecht courtesy of second-half goals from Jens Toornstra and Eljero Elia.

Midfielder Toornstra scored his 14th of the season three minutes after the interval and winger Elia struck his ninth late on to seal three more points for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side at De Kuip.

Feyenoord have won all but two of their 16 home league games this season, dropping points only twice in successive draws against Ajax and Heerenveen in October.

Bryan Linssen and Mimoun Mahi both scored twice as Groningen secured their biggest home win of the season by beating mid-table rivals PEC Zwolle 5-1.

Linssen's first-half brace sandwiched Mahi's close-range effort to give Groningen a 3-0 half-time lead before Nicolai Brock-Madsen struck for Zwolle soon after the restart.

But Mahi fired home his second in the 53rd minute and Ajdin Hrustic added a late fifth for Groningen, who secured only their second league win in 13 matches.

Bottom club Go Ahead Eagles are running out of games as their survival hopes were dealt another blow by two late goals in a 2-0 defeat at Willem II.

The visitors spurned several chances in a lunch-time kick-off before falling behind to substitute Fran Sol's 72nd-minute header.

Jari Schuurman's low shot 10 minutes later sealed Willem II's first league win in five matches, while Go Ahead Eagles have now lost seven of their last nine and are five points from safety with three games remaining.

PSV Eindhoven missed out on the chance to close the gap at the top after they were held to a 1-1 draw at ADO Den Haag.

Starting the day in third place, PSV had the opportunity to close the gap on the top two and move to within two points of leaders Feyenoord – having played a game more.

They made a perfect start, with Davy Propper firing home from inside the area after a smart turn by Jurgen Locadia, who laid the ball off for the midfielder to net his seventh of the season.

However, Mike Havenaar was on hand to head into an empty goal in the 87th minute after Joen Zoet made a mess of a long-range effort to frustrate PSV.

Excelsior grabbed a crucial three points in the relegation battle with a battling 1-0 win over fifth-placed Vitesse.

Mitchell van der Gaag's side have moved three points clear of the drop zone following back-to-back wins, the latest of which came courtesy of a fine finish from Nigel Hasselbaink.

The forward raced onto a fine pull-back from Mike van Duinen and without breaking stride, confidently side-footed the ball high into the roof of the goal to leave Eloy Room with no chance.

The visitors dominated the ball, but were unable to find a way back into the match as they proved wasteful in front of goal, forcing Warner Hahn into just one save all match.

Roda also claimed a big win in the relegation fight, beating Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 to move above them in the table.

Abdul Ajagun opened the scoring with a smart near-post flick following good work down the right by Mikhail Rosheuvel in the 14th minute, and doubled his tally after the break with an easy finish following some poor defending.

Thomas Verhaar curled into the top corner with just over 10 minutes to go to give Rotterdam some hope, but Rosheuvel smashed home in the 89th minute to seal a crucial win for the hosts.

Enes Unal hit a brace for FC Twente to take his tally to 15 for the season as his side cruised to a 3-0 win over Nijmegen, with Fredrik Jensen scoring the other.

AZ Alkmaar improved their chances of European football next season with a 2-1 victory at Heracles.

Second-half goals from Wout Weghorst and Alireza Jahanbakhsh were enough to get sixth-placed AZ past mid-table Heracles, who netted in the closing stages through Brandley Kuwas.

After a goalless first half AZ took the lead in the 53rd minute when Weghorst turned the ball home from close range after Joris van Overeem's low cross rebounded into his path.

Jahanbakhsh's left-footed strike eight minutes from time secured AZ's first win in four games and ensured Kuwas' stoppage-time free-kick was no more than a consolation.
