Could Wigan Athletic winger Ryan Colclough’s new-born baby follow in his father’s footsteps one day, or even pull on an England international shirt?
Colclough celebrated the perfect hat-trick yesterday evening when he scored twice in the 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in Sky Bet League One, before rushing off on 60 minutes to witness the birth of his second son, Harley Thomas Colclough.
Now EFL sponsors Sky Bet have priced up Colclough Jnr at 200/1 to play for Wigan Athletic, and 500/1 to pull on the Three Lions jersey for England.
Sky Bet spokesman Sandro Di Michele said: “What a fantastic story for Ryan and his family, and first of all, we’d like to offer them the warmest congratulations from all at Sky Bet.
“We know he’s only a day old, but we think the way he came into the world means young Harley is destined for big things.”
The story has a precedent where Wigan are concerned as, back in 2006, Latics goalkeeper Chris Kirkland made his England debut in a friendly against Greece, earning his father Eddie close to £10,000 after he and some work colleagues put £100 on a 100/1 bet that Chris would one day pull on an England shirt.
