Champions Liverpool looked every inch title favourites as they came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield to make it three out of three in the defence of their Premier League title.
Both sides entered the contest with 100 percent records, but after beating Liverpool twice in a row, Arsenal could not make it three as Jurgen Klopp's side showed how far the Gunners still have to go under Mikel Arteta as they dominated for almost all of the contest.
Arsenal did give the Reds a shock though, with Andy Robertson gifting Alexandre Lacazette a fifth goal in seven and putting the visitors in with a shout of ending Liverpool's three-year unbeaten league run at Anfield.
The response was immediate though, as Sadio Mane scored his sixth Liverpool goal in nine league appearances against Arsenal just a couple of minutes later, before Robertson made amends for his earlier error by putting the hosts ahead.
Liverpool looked sharp and dangerous, but an organised Arsenal also offered something on the break before Diogo Jota came off the bench and marked his league debut with a late goal to seal the points.
Reds dominate after gifting Gunners
Arsenal took the lead in comical fashion as Liverpool again handed them a gift just as they did at the Emirates at the end of last season.
Robertson made a complete mess of an easy clearance and even when the ball bobbled up to Lacazette he almost fluffed his lines, with his scuffed effort bouncing over Alisson who had dived in anticipation of a clean strike.
It was the scrappiest way possible to score the 100th goal of the Premier League season, and the 101st followed just a couple of minutes later when Salah's driving run and shot was palmed away by Bernd Leno right into the path of Mane to stab home.
It took just another six minutes for Liverpool to go in front when Robertson atoned for his error by getting on the end of yet another fine cross from opposite full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold before poking in beyond Leno.
The second half followed a similar pattern, albeit with Arsenal showing a bit more adventure and having the best clear-cut chance with Lacazette going clean through but being denied by Alisson.
The Frenchman was left to rue that big missed chance as Liverpool wrapped up the points late on when Jota scored his first goal for the club on his league debut by steering in a controlled volley after twice going close moments earlier.
