Our star daily duo of Rory Delargy and David Massey nailed a 33/1 Thursday winner - don't miss today's advice.
Racing betting tips: Friday January 16
1pt win Nemean Lion in 15:00 Windsor at 2/1 (general) – no lower
0.5pts e.w. Milldam in 15:35 Windsor at 20/1 (Ladbrokes, Coral 1/4 1,2,3) – min 16/1
15:00 Windsor
NEMEAN LION is going to take some beating as he attempts to win this contest for the second year in succession. He came into this in good form last year, having won on the bridle at Hereford before Christmas, and similarly he comes here off the back of an excellent effort when third to Champion Hurdle winner Golden Ace in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.
It’s easy to knock that form given the falls of Constitution Hill and but Nemean Lion has a string of very solid efforts to his name over the past year, his only poor one being his pulled-up effort in the Stayers' Hurdle when he clearly didn't stay.
Potters Charm ran well to finish fourth in the Long Walk last time, and this is easier, but given he has no realistic target at the Spring festivals, it can be assumed that this and the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell are again Nemean Lion’s main targets, and he's sure to be spot on now.
15:35 Windsor
The ground at Windsor is going to be testing with more rain forecast and that will suit both Knickerbocker Glory and MILLDAM. The former was beaten three-parts of a length by Go Dante at Sandown on his return and he's effectively 9lb better off when considering Harry Atkins’s claim. Knickerbocker Glory appealed most when the prices came out but has now attracted support and is a more realistic price now.
Milldam is an attractive option in handicapping terms with his best efforts coming on a flattish track when the ground is soft or deeper, and makes obvious appeal in the expected conditions.
He's just 2lb higher than when beating Bertie’s Ballet in the mud at Haydock last December and three defeats since have come on ground no worse than yielding. The more rain that falls, the better his chance.
16:05 Windsor
The booking of Harry Cobden for Gericault Roque catches the eye here and with conditions fine, he could go two better than when third at the meeting last year, but he remains a maiden over fences and while he has a solid catalogue of placed efforts, may not be one for maximum faith.
Aviation was an excellent second to Knight Of Allen at Newbury last time, but deep ground would be a concern, and preference is for As The Fella Says, who still looked like another run would do him good at Cheltenham last time. That was a better effort in finishing third to Zertakt all the same, and he’s getting the hang of fences now. He’ll not mind the ground at all, and shaped as if the 3m1f trip stretched him last time, suggesting that this intermediate trip could prove ideal.
