Saint Are staying at Aintree overnight after fall

Saint Are will remain at Aintree racecourse overnight after taking a fall in the Randox Health Grand National.

The Tom George-trained 12-year-old came down at the Chair in the four-and-a-quarter-mile feature and after initially being treated on the track, he was taken back to the stables for further assessment.

George reports his charge to be "shook up" but is hoping he will soon be able to return to his Slad yard.

George said: "He's staying at Aintree overnight, but hopefully he's going to be fine. He was a bit shook up after a heavy fall, which he's not used to getting.

"He's being looked after incredibly well. There were 10 vets to one horse at one stage. Everyone has been fantastic. He's in very good hands, I'm happy to leave him there overnight and I look forward to getting him home."
