Our star columnist guides us through his runners across Saturday's meetings - with some familiar names in action.
14:00 York - Zap
He hasn't really fired this season and is a pound out of the handicap here which is never ideal. We're very happy with him at home and he was a horse I was looking forward to this season. He can run the odd disappointing race though and if it's a going day he'd have a chance here.
14:20 Chester - Society Queen
I thought she ran well on her reappearance at the track earlier in the month when fourth to Leodis Dream. The step up to six furlongs here is very much in her favour and she's in great form at home.
14:30 Goodwood - Mr Diamond
He's three pounds out of the handicap which is usually a big no for me but it's a £100,000 pot and I'm happy to have a shot at it. He has a decent draw and while he needs to step up, he's a handy horse who Goodwood should really suit. If he finished in the first four I'd be delighted.
14:55 Chester - Gabrial
He's starting to creep down the ratings and the handicapper is giving him a chance, for which I'm very grateful. He'll need luck around Chester, especially over a mile, but has the opportunity to be competitive in races like this again.
14:55 Chester - Gabrial The Saint
I thought he ran a good, solid race at the last meeting here. The winner, Sha La La La Lee, got first run on him through nobody's fault but he ran all the way to the line. If he brings that level of form to the table here he definitely has a chance from the same mark.
15:00 Curragh - Mr Lupton
I avoided the Duke Of York last week with him as I'm trying to swerve the very best sprinters with this horse at the moment. That said, he's rated 110 and on that would have a big chance here. He's in great order and it will be interesting to see how he goes.
15:30 Chester - Claire Underwood
She's been in great form this season, progressing well, and was back to wining ways at Musselburgh last time. She looks like she'll stay a mile-and-six and we're happy to try it at Chester. I'm looking forward to seeing her run and just hope she's able to hold her position through the race.
16:05 Chester - G For Gabrial and The New Marwan
They both made their debuts in the maiden at the May meeting here where The New Marwan was sixth and G For Gabrial ninth. I'd imagine they'll finish in that order again as the latter works nicely at home and he's been given a special name to the owner. I hope he'll justify it at some stage.
1615 York - Dutch Decoy
I was very disappointed with his debut at Newcastle as I thought he'd win there. It was a messy race in that he ran a little green, then got travelling, but they quickened away from him and he couldn't get back into it. He's a horse we really like and I hope he shows the benefit of that experience here.
1615 York - International Lion
He's owned by Phil Smith who loves runners at York. He's a nice son of Kyllachy and while he might just be better for the run, his work has been ok.
16:40 Chester - Indomeneo
I just feel he's badly handicapped right now but I might be wrong. We're happy with him at home right now and trip and ground will be fine.
16:50 York - Arctic Fox
I was very impressed with her at Newmarket last time and if she turns up in that form she'll take some beating here despite an eight pounds rise in the weights. When that happens I look at the previous race and think - 'would she have won with eight pounds more there?' - and the answer is yes. The handicapper could have been tougher and we'll see if he was right or wrong on Saturday. It looked a good performance to me.
16:55 Goodwood - Paddy Power
He's in great form right now and ran very well at Thirsk last time, comfortably winning the race on his side despite finishing fourth. If things drop right, and he gets a bit of cover, he can go close again.
17:15 Chester - Gabrial The One
I'm just hoping it was the heavy ground that did for him here last time as he was never at the races that day. He'd gone there in good form but was never comfortable at any stage of the race. Hopefully a quicker surface on Saturday will see him bounce back.
17:25 York - Gallipoli
He likes finishing second and is a funny horse but this represents a drop in grade for him. He's carrying top weight but it is a big horse and 11st 7lb won't bother him. He has the ability to go very well.
17:25 York - Right Action
I've always felt he's better on slower ground but he's been in good form on a quicker surface this spring, winning at Doncaster and then finishing second at Musselburgh. I'm happy to let him take his chance as he's in great order and on the same mark as in Scotland.
