15:12 Warwick – Class 5 (0-95) Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle 2m3f

Just A Memoryt77
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: J J Burke| T: F O'Brien| OR:  93
10/1

This is a weakly contested handicap evening ignoring the lowly band. In a 0-95 event, only one horse is rated above 90 and she looks the one to be interested in.

JUST A MEMORY has left Tom Ellis after a disappointing effort on her final start for that yard and makes her debut for Fergal O’Brien with the stable in good form. On top of that, the mare now wears a tongue tie having had wind surgery more than once, and O’Brien does better with horses racing in tongue ties than most trainers. In the last 90 days alone, O’Brien has saddled 11 winners from 45 runners over hurdles who wore a tongue tie, producing a profit of €571.40 to a €10 stake at Betfair SP. Given his breathing issues, it’s odd that Just A Memory never wore the aid for Ellis, although she did for former trainer Warren Greatrex.

Just A Memory is lower than when winning over fences at Newton Abbot in September and can be forgiven a poor run at Fontwell last time when fitted with blinkers which caused her to race too freely. She won’t find many weaker races and should go close at this lowly level.

15:47 Warwick – Class 4 (0-110) Handicap Chase 3m1f

Kalista Love41
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: Benjamin Poste| T: T Symonds| OR:  107| C
4/1

KALISTA LOVE made a bright start over fences when beating subsequent winner Largy Force over 2½m here in November and simply found the trip too sharp when running creditably at Cheltenham last month behind Party Vibes. Outpaced down the hill, she stayed on gradually from the home turn to be beaten less than four lengths. Strong from the last here on debut, she gives the strong impression that she will relish a stiffer test of stamina, while her most illustrious close relative is Great Love, a top-class hurdler in France who won over 2m7f and was runner-up to Rule Supreme in the French Champion Hurdle over 3m1f.

Kalista Love clearly goes well at Warwick, so the tricky fences are no concern, and she is open to further improvement as a chaser having shaped so well on both starts so far.
