David Massey found an 11/1 winner yesterday as the Punting Pointers team continue in great form - don't miss Rory Delargy's take on Friday's racing.
Racing betting tips: Friday March 27
1pt win Mixedwave in the 14:50 Wetherby at 6/1 (General) – min 9/2
1pt win Bras d’Or in the 15:20 Wetherby at 10/3 (General) – min 3/1
14:50 Wetherby – Class 4 (0-110) Handicap Chase 3m45y
Youdecide looks to have strong claims here at first glance, having shaped with promise on both chase starts to date, although he seemed to find three miles at Kempton stretching his stamina last time, so whether he lasts home here – with a visor fitted for the first time – is up for debate. My worry would be that headgear may light him up and that will exacerbate any stamina worries.
MIXEDWAVE has no such concerns having won this race last year, and while he might be best remembered as the first horse to be retrospectively disqualified under the new whip rules, he is a reliable performer at this level, and tends to come to himself early in the year, with a record between January and March in Class 4/5 handicap chases over 3m which reads 1215123. He served notice that his turn was near when a close third to Jukebox d’Eddy at Huntingdon last time and Pam Sly has saddled a winner and four runners-up from her last eight runners over fences, showing the stable to be in solid form. Mixedwave is back down to a BHA rating of 95, the mark he won this off 12 months ago, and he is taken to go back to back under ideal conditions.
15:20 Wetherby – Class 4 (0-120) Handicap Hurdle 2m5f56y
BRAS D'OR was a little underwhelming at Ayr last time out given how well he had shaped when second at Ludlow on his penultimate start, but it’s likely that he didn’t relish the heavy ground at Ayr and the form looks better in retrospect with the pair he split winning next time out.
Bras d’Or took the eye in the paddock on his hurdles bow over two miles at Cheltenham in November (strong, scopey sort who will jump a fence in time) and he shaped well when fifth to recent Turners fourth Soldier Reeves in a deep maiden hurdle. Placed in a point to point, he’s open to improvement at this sort of trip and has been handed a very fair opening mark, so is preferred to Daylatedollarshort, who is respected after scoring over C&D last time.
