Sam Hoskins guides Oli Bell through Kennet Valley Thorougbreds and Hot To Trot Racing's main hopes

Sam Hoskins guides Oli Bell through some of the horses who will represent Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds and Hot To Trot Racing this season.

Kennet Valley Thorougbreds

Magical Memory

Back after two years off and showing all the spark of old. The idea would be to run in something like the Wokingham or Stewards’ Cup with a run at one of the new all-weather meetings beforehand, maybe a conditions race. He could be interesting this season.

Sir Busker

Turned four and rated 92. William Knight trains him and he loves soft ground. He was being lined up for either the Lincoln consolation race or the Spring Cup but obviously they've now gone. The Hunt Cup would be a possibility but he’ll need to go up a few pounds and soft ground suits. Longer term something like the Balmoral at Ascot would work. That track with those seven furlong and mile handicaps could really suit with someone like Jamie Spencer on board given how this horse is ridden.

Dance Fever

Unbeaten in three and rated 91. He’s working well with some good horses this spring and we hope he could be a Britannia horse but will start off on the all-weather as a prep for something. Hopefully he can scale through the three-year-old handicaps and turn into a Listed or Group horse in due course.

Spanish Kiss

Only run twice and was fourth in a maiden at Chelmsford on his latest start. He’s by Lope De Vega out of Kissable so it’s a very good pedigree. He can progress.

Two-year-olds

Carolus Magnus is a forward Holy Roman Emperor colt with Andrew Balding who is showing plenty of early toe. There’s an Equiano colt with Charlie Hills called Equality who is a real bull of a horse and a sprinting sort, just the type Charlie does well with.

There’s also a Belardo colt called Dual Identity with William Knight who is a lovely horse and we have a New Approach filly called Novelty with Mark Johnston. She’s a half-sister to Scarlet Dragon who is showing a bit.

Hot To Trot Racing

Hand On My Heart

A half-sister to Heartache and Heartwarming. She won on her debut in a conditions race at Windsor before running in the Molecomb where Ryan Moore felt she wasn’t disgraced and up to the grade. She then disappointed in a Group race over in France but Clive Cox feels she’s done really well this winter. She likes fast ground is rated 93 so could possibly run in a handicap as a prep before hopefully stepping up into stakes company.

Kurious

Won the Coral Charge at Sandown last year before having a small setback. She’s done really well over the winter and hopefully she’ll make up into a really top sprinting filly this season. The King’s Stand would be a place to go with her – via a prep race somewhere. Longer term the Flying Five at the Curragh would be absolutely ideal and then maybe the Abbaye. She’s a very exciting filly. She’s a half-sister to Alpha Delphini and Tangerine Trees and all our hopes are pinned on her really.

We have a couple of handy handicappers too in Sendacard who is with Richard Fahey and Due Care at Roger Charlton's while the two-year-olds are particularly nice.

There’s Daisy Warwick, a Kingman half-sister to Overdose who is going to Andrew Balding. Persaria is a full-sister to The Tin Man who is with James Fanshawe while Intoxication is a nice Havana Grey filly with David Menusier. There are a few others too.
