A top-class field has been assembled for the TRC Health + Hygiene Blue Riband, which gets underway with six red-hot heats this evening and all the action is streamed live on towcester.tv.

Ante-post favourite Bockos Doomie takes on Newinn Jacko, who was among the nominees for Greyhound Of The Year, in heat two, while the first instalment is also packed full of quality and those two races of the Towcester competition may be best avoided for punting purposes.

The remainder are hardly straightforward when it comes to finding winners but there is a lot to like about the chances of Coolavanny Kyser (T2) in the 8.40. He goes up against another Greyhound Of The Year contender in Kilara Lion, but Mark Wallis' charge has early pace to burn and is fancied to get clear beyond recall from a good draw in the blue jacket.

He was lightly raced in Ireland but showed plenty of promise and began his career on these shores with facile trap-to-line 480m wins at Central Park and Monmore, before a fine effort from the front over this track and trip (500m) when third to the classy Sparta Master when last seen on December 18. He warmed up with a pleasing 29.80 trial (calculated) here and, still very much unexposed, he could have more to come.

It could also be a case of early pace wins the race at 8.09 when Swift Lettuce (T5) is fancied to blaze a trail.

The John Mullins-trained speedster has plenty of class, having contested the finals of the Monmore Puppy Derby and Kent Derby as well as reaching the quarters of the Star Sports & Arc Derby at Nottingham last year, and arrives fresh after almost two months off. He has been moving very well in trials at Romford and Monmore and, in a race where most need to lead, he can get the all-important first run with a burst of his smart early speed.

Great Eastern (T1) is no spring chicken but mixed in hot company in Ireland and should still have plenty to offer for new handler Kevin Hutton, for whom he made a winning debut in an A1 at Monmore earlier in the month.

The May '17 whelp will have needed that first start since the summer and posted a flying 4.14 sectional in a good C&D trial (29.79) last weekend, so is expected to turn in pole position on the rails at 8.56 and give it a good go from the front.
