Greyhound racing tips & selections for Saturday July 29

BEST BET: Quivers Puma (T5, 8.18 Crayford)

NEXT BEST: Out Of Chicago (T3, 9.06 Crayford)

Quivers Puma (T5) has been in sparkling form in recent weeks and is fancied to land a hat-trick at Crayford this evening.

Katie O’Flaherty’s charge goes over 540m at 8.18, one of six Opens at the Kent track this evening, having dominated S1 contests the last twice, making it five wins (two Opens) from her last six outings – all over this course and distance.

Showing fine pace to the corner to steal a march, the in-form May ’14 whelp scored by over  two lengths from the reopposing Mystical Mick on that occasion and looks likely to cut loose again with little early speed among his rivals.

Recent times, especially last Saturday’s 33.64secs (+30), suggests he will take some pegging back.

O’Flaherty also has strong claims in the E1 contest at 9.56 courtesy of Swift Leane (T4), who has a good chance to blaze a trail with a lovely draw in the black jacket between slow starters and looks worth siding with.

She has taken well to the step up to eight bends with a couple of victories of late, including in an Open three starts ago, and ran well enough when a distant second to the impressive Newlawn Ned on her latest start, when she could have finished much closer had she not been the meat in the sandwich at the first bend.

A similar effort to the corner can see her get on the bunny this time and the December ’14 whelp remains open to improvement over this sort of trip.

Mystical Alfie must be considered a threat on the rails now back up in trip but the selection can get far enough clear to repel the late challenge from the red jacket.

There is also a 714m open on the menu at 9.06 and Out Of Chicago (T3) is fancied to continue her progress at this distance with a victory.

The Nick Carter-trained bitch caught the eye staying on for third in the heats of the Ladbrokes.com Summer Maiden Stayers over this track and trip, before stepping up on that effort to go down by just over a length in the same position in the final a week ago despite encountering all sorts of traffic problems.

The reopposing Malteser Man cut out the early running that day before fading into fifth and can do so again, but the selection is fancied to prove too strong with further progress on the cards and the 7/2 available on Friday night may not last too long.
