There is top-class action at Belle Vue tonight as the Greyhound Media Group Oaks gets underway with 12 heats.

The bitches' Classic is the last big event of the year, with the final forming the last Sky Sports show of 2017 on December 13th, and a whopping 72 runners do battle for the £10,000 first prize.

Geelo Sapphire (T3) is a contender for Bitch Of The Year and can kick her Oaks campaign off with a victory at 9.54.

Carl Perry's daughter of Ace Hi Rumble has plenty of early dash but is also strong, as she showed when landing the 3 Steps To Victory at Sheffield in April.

She then returned form a break to land the only other Category One event for bitches, the Lowther Stakes, at Towcester in August so the fact she arrives here fresh from a break isn't a negative.

She has moved well in a couple of C&D trials and could have too much class for these.

Wuheida (T4) might be one of youngest in the field but has shown bundles of potential and should take some beating at 8.34.

A winner in the heats of Romford Puppy Cup, the January '16 whelp looked very smart when winning by wide margins in the first two rounds of the Puppy Derby at Towcester before a hefty bump at the corner put paid to her chances when fourth behind eventual winner Magical Bale in the semi-finals.

The Phil Simmonds-trained bitch flew round in 27.56 on her first look at the Manchester venue last Saturday, posting a smart 4.32 sectional, and there could be plenty more to come from the daughter of Head Bound.

Sylvias Chloe (T2) is another with smart early speed that is taken to lead her rivals a merry dance at 8.02.
