BEST BET: Swithins Beans (T5, 9.17 Sheffield)

NEXT BEST: Sporting Dave (T4, 9.06 Towcester)

TREBLE: Boomtown Actor (T4, 7.58 Towcester)

By Chris Oliver

Towcester's RPGTV-televised card features an excellent trial stakes for the upcoming ECC Timber Puppy Derby at 9.06, with a number of smart prospect lining up.

Headford Kev falls into that category having his first run since finishing third in the Romford Puppy Cup, while Queen Borneo and Brinkleys Twirl look to have bright futures after finishing first and second respectively in a similar event here last month.

However, the one to be on could be Sporting Dave (T4), an impressive trap-to-line winner in front of the Sky Sports cameras over 480m at Central Park last time out.

Winner of the Coral Puppy Trophy at Hove in August, Seamus Cahill's dog relished the step back up in trip latest after being knocked over in the semi-finals of the Romford Puppy Cup and can progress further over this 500m.

He moved well in a 480m trial her last week, when posting a smart 4.05 sectional, and he can make first run count tonight.

There are also opens at Sheffield this evening including the Sheffield Stadium Winner Of One final (9.17), in which Swithins Beans (T5) is expected to take some beating.

Elaine Parker's puppy showed some serious middle gears when powering into the lead in the heats and going on to score by nearly two lengths from Some Pitch in 28.84, which was much quicker than the other two qualifiers.

All of his rivals in this decider are known for doing their best work late on over four bends so the selection could turn in front with a repeat of that 4.30 sectionals and another victory beckons if that is the case.

Boomtown Actor (T4) upset the odds-on Ballymac Ramsay when making all at the South Yorkshire venue last Tuesday and is fancied to repeat the dose at 7.58.

The favourite gave the winner too much rope and could only get within two lengths of Norman Melbourne's charge at the line despite staying on well enough.

It could be a similar story here, with Ballymac Ramsay's likely move left from trap three expected to give the selection a dream run to the corner in the black jacket and this bang-in-form local can get clear beyond recall.
