Fifth ODI scores

South Africa beat New Zealand by six wickets

New Zealand 149 (De Grandhomme 32; Rababa 3-25)

South Africa 150-4 (Du Plessis 51*, Miller 45*; Patel 2-26).

Faf du Plessis hit an unbeaten half-century as South Africa beat New Zealand by six wickets to claim a 3-2 one-day international series win.

Chasing just 150 following an impressive bowling display, Du Plessis' unbeaten 51 led the Proteas home to ensure they stay top of the International Cricket Council ODI rankings.

Du Plessis was helped by David Miller, who struck six fours and two sixes in a 35-ball 45 not out, after Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla and JP Duminy all departed for single figures.

South Africa's bowlers set up the victory by dismissing New Zealand for just 149 inside 42 overs, justifying skipper AB de Villiers' decision to stick the Black Caps in.

Imran Tahir returned stunning figures of two for 14 - the most economical 10-over spell by a South Africa spinner in ODIs - while Kagiso Rabada took three for 25 to be named man of the match.

The hosts struggled to post a challenging total after slipping to 87 for six in the 23rd over and were reliant on contributions from their lower order, number eight Colin de Grandhomme top-scoring with 32.
