Oli Bell sealed a thrilling victory in the Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Charity Tipping Challenge.
The annual event started at Pontefract on Friday evening and ran through to York on Saturday. It featured a host of top northern trainers alongside Oli Bell, Ed Chamberlin, Alex Hammond, Michael Shinners and the Sporting Life racing team.
Each person was given a £100 charity bet for the meeting with all winnings going to the New Beginnings racehorse rehoming charity. The winning tipster was also given £5000 to donate to a charity of their choice. And Bell and the Quinns have been involved in a ding-dong battle to the line after both selected 14/1 winner Red Mirage at Doncaster on Saturday.
The ITV presenter led the field overnight but was dumbstruck watching on from Ascot when his rivals added £500 to their kitty courtesy of Elmonjed's victory in the Sky Bet Dash.
However, in controversial circumstances he hauled himself back to the summit when Birkenhead finished fifth in the Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe. Standard each-way terms are four places but Sky Bet paid five, meaning despite an objection from the runner-up, the title heads south.
His chosen charity is the New Beginnings Racehorse Rehoming charity who will receive the £500 after a brilliant week of tipping.
