ENOLA GREY - 15:30 Newcastle (NAP)
ENOLA GREY took full advantage of a reduced mark when fairly dotting up at Wolverhampton last month and she remains perfectly well treated following reassessment (up 6lb) having won off this mark of 79 at both Southwell and Wolves in 2024. The switch to Newcastle comes with no concerns either as she's a dual course winner and she's clearly versatile in terms of trip - when it comes to seven furlongs or a mile at least.
SILVER THORN - 14:02 Exeter
Wicked Thoughts could be popular here, up just 3lb for his Wincanton win on fast ground towards the end of November, but the weather forecast could bring all sorts of precipitation and - providing the meeting goes ahead of course - preference is for SILVER THORN, who is proven in testing conditions. He was an easy winner at Doncaster last month, that form a big jump up from his Lingfield chasing debut, and Emma Lavelle's horse looks progressive enough to shrug off a 6lb rise.
BROADWAY HONEY - 15:08 Southwell
Broadway Boy's half-sister BROADWAY HONEY is expected to raise her game considerably on handicap debut at Southwell. She's been set some stiff enough tasks since sent hurdling this season, losing a shoe when a remote third behind subsequent Listed-placed A Path To Ronda at Stratford in October before another well-held third behind odds-on Marsiac at Hereford last time. That winner is now rated 128, with the runner-up Noahsgreatrainbow up to 120 after winning a handicap chase subsequently, and Broadway Honey should find this event much more to her liking, especially having been given an opening mark of just 99.
CARGIN BHUI - 16:25 Wolverhampton
CARGIN BHUI let us down slightly when tipped in this spot last week (punted into odds-on favouritism) but he just ran a shade too keenly first time back after the break and obviously bumped into a well-handicapped mare sweetened up by a move to James Owen. Beaten just a head after coming home strongly, Cargin Bhui is due to go up 2lb in the weights so getting him out again quickly makes perfect sense and he's going to take all the beating having been second at Southwell off a 17lb higher mark just last February.
