13:50 Cheltenham
The December Gold Cup should revolve around the Paddy Power form. VINCENZO fared best of the quartet reappearing here, unlucky to stick to the inner when others found better ground wide. He finished two lengths ahead of Hoe Joly Smoke, and despite a 2lb swing, can confirm superiority. Es Perfecto is the wild card – he pulled up in that race but looked a danger two fences out. Fitter now, he could outrun his odds.
15:35 Cheltenham
Jubilee Alpha would likely have beaten Sweet Caryline at Wincanton but for a blunder two out. She’s up 4lb, she still appeals as the class act. Siog Geal is progressive, but the each-way play here is GAME COLOURS. She clocked a big figure when second here in April, despite plenty going wrong, and shaped like she wanted this trip. Reunited with Sean Bowen, she misses the last on Friday to try her hand here. She looks well treated and could surprise.
12:55 Doncaster
Spadestep put in a perfectly good first attempt over fences at Aintree last month, very well backed to make a winning chasing debut, but he got himself embroiled in a bit of a duel with Gentleman Bill from some way out and the pair of them paid for it late, the more patiently ridden Jordans Cross picking them off after the last.
He’s been nudged up a couple of pounds for that effort but it’ll be a surprise if that’s as good as he is. The addition of a tongue-tie ought to help him finish off a bit better too, and he can get back on the winning trail.
14:05 Doncaster
PRINCE ZALTAR looked a picture at Cheltenham last time out and ran a cracking race to finish second to the fast-improving Kikijo, form that’s been franked by the winner since. He reverts to chasing on the same mark here and already has a 3m chase win to his name this year, that coming for Philip Rothwell at Punchestown back in June. The ground should be ideal and if he can put a clear round in, he might take a bit of stopping today.
