Harry Kane injury worry for Tottenham in clash against Bournemouth

Tottenham will have to wait at least another 24 hours before finding out the extent of striker Harry Kane's injury.

Harry Kane was withdrawn early on from Tottenham's clash with Bournemouth with an injury to the same ankle that kept him out for a lengthy period last season.

The Premier League club are continuing to assess the problem and do not expect an update on their 35-goal player until at least Tuesday.

The England striker appeared to turn his ankle in a challenge with Cherries goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as he put the ball in the net on 34 minutes, although his effort was disallowed for offside before Spurs went on to claim a 4-1 victory.

Kane was replaced by Erik Lamela after receiving treatment and he hobbled around the touchline to the changing rooms accompanied by a Spurs physio.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed to Sky Sports reporter Greg Whelan at half-time that the injury was "in his right ankle, possibly ligaments, similar to the injury sustained against Sunderland early last season".

After the match, Pochettino admitted he was "concerned" by Kane's injury but added: "Until tomorrow and the scan we cannot say anything more.

"Of course I worry about him, his ankle, I hope it's not a massive issue - for him and the team - and as soon as possible he can be available."

Kane spent nearly two months out between September and November 2016 with an injury to his right ankle before another two-and-a-half-week period out between March and April 2017.
