Manchester City are 8/1 for an unbeaten Premier League season after they came from a goal down to beat Huddersfield 2-1.
The Premier League leaders' unbeaten record looked under threat when a corner from Huddersfield's Tom Ince found its way into the net via Nicolas Otamendi's shoulder just before half time.
But straight after the break Sterling was fouled and Sergio Aguero stepped up to equalise from the penalty spot.
City pressed and pressed but were unable to find another goal until late on when Gabriel Jesus' effort was saved by Jonas Lossl only to luckily rebound into the net off Sterling's thigh with just six minutes to go.
The goal saw City stretch their winning run in all competitions to a club record 18 games. It is now 11 consecutive Premier League wins - just three shy of Arsenal's record - while they are unbeaten in 21 in the competition.
With two-thirds of the season (26 games) still remaining, they are just 1/10 to win the Premier League with Sky Bet and 8/1 to emulate Arsenal's 'invincible' campaign of 2003/04. They are also 6/4 to set a new Premier League points record of 96 or more, having taken 37 from from a possible 39 so far.
To add to Huddersfield's heartache, Rajiv van la Parra was sent off after the final whistle for pushing Leroy Sane in the face.
City subsequently reopen their eight-point lead over Manchester United at the top of the table, while Huddersfield slip to 11th.
Story of the odds
City hit a high of 7/4 in-play with Sky Bet before bagging their 84th-minute winner.
Aguero was effectively the first scorer after the opener was an own goal - he was the favourite in that market at 9/4.
The biggest winning RequestABet was an 18/1 shot - Sterling to score, Man City to win, both teams to score and Hogg to be carded.
Match reaction
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "If you want to win the title you can not expect easy games, so we have to live these kinds of situations and we spoke about at half-time how we are going to react in that situation.
"I am so happy for the victory today.
"We are going to lose. That is going to happen - definitely. Today was so close - it's going to happen.
"When you play every few days, when you see the scheduling - December, January - we go to Donetsk to play in the Champions League. It's impossible.
"The 18 games in a row is amazing and we have 11 in the Premier League in a row so that's good. We have a good moment and with the spirit we can go further."
Huddersfield boss David Wagner: "Defeat is defeat. It's never something that you like as a manager or as a football team.
"I think like always we have to be focused on our performance and I think the performance was good today.
"The players left everything on the grass, they've shown passion, desire and they showed emotion as well.
"Of course we were a little bit unlucky because we conceded the penalty very early after half-time and I think the second goal was a little bit unlucky as well.
"You have to have the tight situation in your favour, if you like, to be successful against a team like Man City."
