Jose Mourinho 'a dream manager and he's been brilliant with me' - Ben Davies hails Tottenham boss

Ben Davies has revealed that Jose Mourinho is a 'dream manager' to work under at Tottenham and admits the Portuguese boss has been 'brilliant' with him so far.

Mourinho's fortunes have been mixed since replacing Mauricio Pochettino in November, with a promising start coming before a difficult run which has seen them knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup and their top-four hopes dashed.

He came under fire recently after being pictured flouting government rules in a park last week, when he held a training session with Tanguy Ndombele and a small group of other Spurs stars.

But there can be no questions over his commitment to the job, though, and it is also claimed that the 57-year-old has also gone into lockdown with three of his coaching staff in a north London house.

"I think he's been great for the club," Welsh defender Davies told NBC.

"Having someone of his stature and calibre coming to the club really gives everyone a lift.

"To have someone like him believe that this club can win things then it's a dream manager to have.

"If he's putting his trust in us then we can only give everything to him and put our trust in him."

Ben Davies: The 26-year-old defender has made 18 appearances for club and country this season

Davies, 26, has seen his 2019/20 campaign disrupted by an ankle injury and has made just 13 appearances in total, nine of them in the Premier League.

He returned to action in February, featuring four times before football came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Personally for me it's been quite tough," Davies continued.

"I got injured in his first game. The next few weeks after that is when players look to make the best impression they can.

"I can't say a bad word about him though because throughout my time out injured he was in constant contact with me. He gave me so much support and made sure that when I came back I was right. For me he's been brilliant."
