Scunthorpe United sack manager Graham Alexander
Scunthorpe have sacked manager Graham Alexander despite the club being in the Sky Bet League One play-off positions.
The 46-year-old was appointed as Mark Robins' successor in March 2016 and led the Iron to the play-offs last season, where they lost to Millwall.
Alexander's departure was announced just hours after Scunthorpe's 1-1 home draw with strugglers Rochdale on Saturday - their eighth match without a win.
The draw left the Iron fifth in the table, two points above seventh-placed Plymouth, with seven games remaining.
Scunthorpe can be backed at 6/1 with Sky Bet to win promotion.
A statement published on the club's official website read: "Scunthorpe United FC can confirm that manager Graham Alexander and assistant manager Neil McDonald have this evening both been relieved of their duties.
"The club would wish to place on record their appreciation of Graham's efforts during his two years at Glanford Park."
