Scotland coach Matt Taylor switches to Australia

Scotland defence coach Matt Taylor has joined Rugby Australia on a four-year deal.

Brisbane-born Taylor returns home after an eight-year stay in Scotland to join Dave Rennie's coaching staff.

The 47-year-old was defence coach at Guinness PRO14 outfit Glasgow Warriors before becoming a full-time assistant to Scotland coach Gregor Townsend in 2017.

"It's a tremendous honour for me to represent the Wallabies in a coaching capacity," Taylor said.

"I have supported the Wallabies since childhood, so to be part of this group moving towards the Rugby World Cup in France in 2023 is an exciting prospect."

Glasgow boss Rennie was appointed Michael Cheika's successor as Australia head coach last month and will take over at the end of the 2019-20 season.
