Daniel Ricciardo, tipped at 7/1 to win this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix by our Pit-Lane Insider, posted a record-breaking lap to lay down an early marker in opening practice for Sunday's race.
Red Bull's Ricciardo set a best time of one minute and 42.489 seconds at the Marina Bay circuit to finish ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel with Max Verstappen third.
Lewis Hamilton, who heads Vettel in the championship by three points, was only fourth, nearly half-a-second adrift of Ricciardo.
Hamilton, 32, arrived here in Singapore for the first of seven flyaway races, in charge of the title race for the first time this year following his dominant victory at the Italian Grand Prix a fortnight ago.
But the Briton and his Mercedes team are braced for difficult weekend at this twisty and slow street circuit which is expected to suit both the Ferrari and Red Bull cars.
Hamilton's team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who earlier this week signed a new one-year deal to remain at Mercedes next season, was sixth in the order, nearly one second off the pace.
The opening 90-minute session however, is not representative of conditions for qualifying tomorrow or indeed Sunday's race, with both staged at night.
