F1 Insider: Japanese Grand Prix selections plus track info, race times, TV details and more

Our F1 Insider returns with two selections for the Japanese Grand Prix, while we also have TV details, key timings, race history and more.

Pierre Gasly to finish in the top six at 7/1

Gasly arrives at Suzuka with a significantly upgraded Honda engine after its successful introduction in the pre-race sessions in Russia last weekend. Toro Rosso reverted to the old power-plant spec on Sunday but the team had seen enough to give the uprated package the green light for Honda's home event this weekend. Gasly, who will be promoted to the senior Red Bull outfit next season, has showed flashes of brilliance this season and this race could be another opportunity for the Frenchman to shine. At 7/1, there's enough juice in the price to justify a wager on Gasly repeating his top six finishes in Bahrain and Hungary.

Max Verstappen to finish on the podium at 13/8

While Lewis Hamilton's mid-season surge has taken him to the brink of the title, Verstappen's recent performances have arguably been just as impressive. The Dutchman's qualifying effort in Singapore was sublime and proved the foundation of a stunning second place finish, while his early-race heroics from the back row of the grid in Russia last time out show Verstappen belongs in truly elite company. Suzuka this Sunday might just be the race in which the Red Bull driver earns the plaudits his recent drives have merited. The team come armed with more powerful Renault engines and the threat of rain looms across the weekend - with a fair wind Verstappen can wrestle the package into contention and add at least another podium to a record featuring successive runner-up trophies on his last two visits to Japan.
