Valtteri Bottas will start the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the back of the field following an engine penalty.
Bottas, who announced here on Thursday that he was separating from his Olympic swimmer wife Emilia, required new engine parts in his Mercedes after he retired from the previous race in Brazil with an oil leak.
The Finn posted a statement about the breakdown of his marriage after three years.
"Unfortunately I have to let you know that the marriage between Emilia and myself has come to an end," said Bottas, 30.
"Our ways have split because of the challenges my career and life situation bring and we think this is the best for both of us and our future lives, so we are separating as friends.
"I will be forever thankful for all the sacrifices she had to make for me, for her support during many years and for all the experiences that we have had together.
"I trust that you will respect both of us and our privacy regarding this matter.
"This will be all I have to say and comment regarding our divorce."
Sebastian Vettel was excused from media duties on Thursday after his wife Hanna gave birth to their third child.
Vettel, the four-time world champion, had been due to appear in the official press conference to preview the final race of the year alongside Charles Leclerc.
The Ferrari team-mates both crashed out in Brazil following a collision with five laps remaining.
