Serena Williams has thanked Wimbledon chiefs for making her a seed at this year's championships.
The Wimbledon committee took into account the American seven-time champion's previous achievements and seeded her 25th despite her current world ranking of 181.
Williams slipped down the rankings after taking time off to have her daughter last year, and was as low as 454 at last month's French Open.
The 36-year-old is second favourite for the title, but she insisted her seeding is not too low.
"I think it would be ungrateful to say that. So not at all, in fact I was pleasantly surprised," she said.
"It was a bit in the back of my mind that I would have a chance but I didn't put too much on it. I think it's very noble and cool."
Williams did not realise she was drug tested more than other American tennis players prior to a widely-reported news story this week.
The article on deadspin.com revealed Williams' unhappiness about an unannounced test in June where the tester refused to leave her house.
After being informed of Williams' testing data compared to other American players, a spokesman for the 23-time grand slam singles champion told deadspin: "She has vocally supported, respected and complied with USADA testing throughout her entire career.
"While she willingly continues to submit to testing, there is absolutely no reason for this kind of invasive and targeted treatment."
The testing incident was made public after WTA chief Steve Simon was overheard leaving a message on Williams' answerphone at an airport.
Williams said: "It's unfortunate but I guess when you're in my position, you mention my name, people overhear things and they want to tell the press. It's something I've dealt with for a long time. That's okay."
"I actually thought the article was interesting. I didn't know I was tested so much more than everyone else. I do know I'm always getting tested all the time, no matter where I'm ranked.
"I didn't realise it was such a discrepancy, at least with the American players. It would be impossible for me not to feel some sort of way about that."
