James Owen’s NAVAL TRIBUTE looks the bet of the day in the Rapid Lad Handicap at Beverley. His win at Kempton in March is good recent form and he’s forgiven his latest Lingfield reverse where he was never travelling at a track that doesn’t seem to suit. Owen is five from 15 with his Beverley runners and reaching for the first-time visor is a positive signal given he’s 19 from 64 at 29.69% with that headgear first time up.
TOOTHLESS – 15.10 Perth
Paul Nicholls’ TOOTHLESS has been running well in defeat in soft ground and he could bounce back on better conditions in the River Tay Handicap Chase at Perth. The last time he ran on good ground he was an impressive winner at Windsor and his prominent style of racing can pay dividends around here.
SERVICE MINIMUM – 15.30 Warwick
It’s clear Dan Skelton has kept more than a few up his sleeve for a spring clean-up and SERVICE MINIMUM is one of them. She absolutely bolted up at Bangor the day the Skelton multis went in and an 11lb hike in the weights may not stop her following up now she tackles a few extra furlongs at her trainer’s local track.
BLUE DEVERON – 17.30 Southwell
BLUE DEVERON should appreciate dropping back in trip to five furlongs in the Celebrate With Sponsorship At Southwell Racecourse Handicap. The son of Blue Point showed speed when leading over six furlongs at Chelmsford last time before fading into third and that suggests five furlongs at this track will suit.
