Refresh for updates

1555 - Time for me to muck in and help out with the other jobs, there is of course plenty more action to come throughout the course of the day and evening and you'll be able to follow it all on these pages. Breaking news coming through and the £100,000 Pick 7 jackpot goes begging this week.

1554 - The winner was returned at 16/1, leading home decent yardstick Master The World and Zwayyan in a race where very few got into it.

1553 - "Strung out like Sunday morning washing" calls the commentator Mark Johnson and they were strung out behind Ballard Down who is a nice winner for likeable Sussex trainer William Knight and Harry Bentley.

1549 - Plenty of money for Temple Church who hasn't yet delivered on his juvenile promise but there's still time. Let's have a stab with an old favourite in Knight Owl who will handle this ground and is a good, consistent old cove.

1547 - Zwayyan is a son of Pivotal so should be at home under the conditions and will be fancied to build on a win at Haydock. This looks a good race and one that should throw up winners in the future. What wins today? No idea but good luck.

1546 - The principal action is drawing to a close and I'll knock the blog on the head shortly but not before we've watched a cracking handicap at Newmarket.  Masham Star is among the market leaders as they arrive at the start and he ran a cracker at the July Festival the other week.

1544 - It was tight in behind and it could be a while to sort out the places. Don't forget if you were on with Sky Bet, they paid down to sixth.

1543 - "It's a race we target every year and we've been lucky enough to win it three times in the last five now. You need cheap horses for it and we go to the sales to buy horses for it every year," says winning trainer and Sporting Life columnist Richard Fahey.

1542 - "He would go round again he would. What a star of a horse to travel in that ground and win like he did. To be fair, I came down with Richard in the car and he was more worried about the filly in the race. He was no no-hoper you know and he's strengthened up a lot," says winning rider Barry McHugh.

1540 - Did you listen to Ben Linfoot? His Bengali Boys dots up having been advised at 16/1.

1537 - Stan Moore, resplendently dressed in a kagool, says Debutante's Ball will go well but Oli Bell is looking to Connery. Pursuing The Dream rears up at the start as they're going forwards. Good luck.

1534 - There are a fair few Society Rocks in the field and the late stallion's progeny impressed at the sales. The smart sprinter had plenty of form on soft and good to soft ground and it will be interesting to see if he passes that ability on to his progeny. This is more or less the first chance that they'll have had to run with cut underfoot this summer.

1533 - Corinthia Knight got the nod in our stats guide while Ben Linfoot took two against the field in his Value Bet column.

1531 - Pouring for about half an hour, says David Cleary over on RUK.

1531 - The favourite is a daughter of Dark Angel so should, in theory, relish the soft ground and perhaps her stamina, usually a negative in this race, will be handy given the conditions. It's now raining heavily and is expected to impact on the ground.

1528 - It's Nicholls and Twiston-Davies as Alcala denies the other Bowen runner, Wadswick Court. Was it wrong to cheer Alcala on through bitterness? I've followed and followed Wadswick Court through his days with Charlie Longsdon and Neil Mulholland but gave up on him before his move to Wales. I should have known.

1526 - There's a Super Six places on offer with Sky Bet if you don't like the look of the short-priced favourite Maggies Angel and I'm keen to take her on. But don't listen to me, Earthmoves has just pulled up.

1525 - It's Super Sprint time! I've always liked this race but I'm not sure it's a great renewal. I don't suppose Richard Fahey will mind and you can read his thoughts on his many runners here.

1514 - It's not long until the Market Rasen highlight where Sky Bet are paying five places (see link above) and it promises to be a cracking race. There's a former winner lining up in It's A Gimme while Peter Bowen enjoyed great success in this race back in the day and saddles a couple of relative outsiders. Dan Skelton sent out the winner last year and runs Shelford but I'm not sure he's in the same class as Long House Hall. My stab in the dark would be Earthmoves who is two from three since joining Bowen and could well have more to offer now he's discovered his mojo.

1510 - There's a handy little handicap coming up at Newmarket featuring Fivetwoeight who received positive mentions in Catching Pigeons last season. He's got more to offer I feel but I'd need a closer look to try and work out how he'll cope with the soft ground today.

1507 - Some ante-post reaction from Sky Bet who go 7/1 from 12s about Magical Memory for the Haydock Sprint Cup.

There was a shorter price about a flying dismount from Dettori and he didn't disappoint.

1505 - "He's really tough, Frankie gave him a great ride and it's great to have him back on board. It's amazing, we had a terrible run at Royal Ascot and it's amazing what it does to a horse's head to get his head back in front," says a delighted Charlie Hills.

"I miss the buzz of winning and he's a lovely old boy this. We get on so well. He's been through the ranks, he's better than these at this level. Let's enjoy him while we can," adds Frankie Dettori.

1503 - It's hard work at Newbury with a few runners barely raising a gallop but Magical Memory was not among them as he wins the Hackwood Stakes under Frankie Dettori.

1459 - Bow Belles is an impressive winner for Tim Easterby at Ripon. Charlie Hills uncertain how Magical Memory will handle the ground at Newbury.

1455 - There's also a Price Boost in the Group Three Hackwood Stakes at Newbury (1500) where Magical Memory teams up with Frankie Dettori again. Charlie Hills is hopeful the sprinter can build on a confidence boosting success last time.

1453 - God Given was a 7/1 winner for Luca Cumani and 6,860 players of the Pick 7. You can check out the leaderboard (shortly) right here.

1449 - There's an interesting little novice stakes coming up at Ripon (1455) where you can get a Price Boost on Saeed bin Suroor's Moseeb who made all on debut at York.

1446 - Sired by Nathaniel the winner and he's enjoying a great season. It's no great surprise that his progeny didn't make a flying start last year but they've really come into their own this campaign. His highest ranking offspring is dual Oaks winner Enable. I wonder if he will prove to be a great sire of fillies or will enjoy success across the board?

1444 - That was the 25th running of the Aphrodite Stakes apparently. High Hopes have already been dashed but not if you backed God Given who provides apprentice George Wood with a big race success.

1440 - Flip-flopping favourites (if not weather) at Newmarket with High Hopes the new jolly. That's how we all start the day before that first leg in the yankee isn't it? Good luck if you're in the Pick 7 - this is the first leg.

1438 - Over at Cartmel, there's another winning favourite for a trainer who is well worth keeping an eye on in Kenneth Slack. Beeno was the horse in question and I wonder if he's been well-named as Cartmel could be the sort of course you head to for a weekend away of fun and frolics. It's on the list to visit, one day....

1434 - Are you trying to follow the golf as well as the racing? How about this snippet from Ben Coley's blog: "17 completed rounds so far and 11 of those in the 60s."? Bit different to yesterday and they could be going low later if conditions don't change. In-running betting here

1432 - There are four places on offer in the 1440 at Sky Bet (click on the link above) where Oaks also-ran Isabel De Urbina is the favourite. I put up Apphia at 5/1 in an ante-post preview earlier this week - she's now 13/2. #judge

1428 - It's just jogged my fading memory that easy winner What About Carlo was Ben Linfoot's headline Value Bet selection today. I hope you were all on! Well done Scoop.

1427 - Running at Newbury but it's not long after this until the Listed Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket where Simon Holt fancied Apphia. Read why here.

1424 - What About Carlo is the new favourite and trainer Eve Johnson-Houghton is in form and reports he'll be suited by the ground. At Ripon and Gowran there have been winning favourites for Ollie Pears and Ger Lyons.

1420 - Mount Logan is out. Time for a new market to be formed.

1419 - It's a tricky little Listed race which is already missing leading fancy Spark Plug but I was quite keen on Restorer to run well at Royal Ascot (which he did without providing a return) and he could relish this soft ground. He'll be carrying my nominal pound.

1417 - Plenty of previews to get stuck into on site if you haven't already read them with Simon Holt, Ben Linfoot, Catching Pigeons and more. Over at Newbury, one of the leading fancies Mount Logan is running loose after unseating Silvestre de Sousa. He could be withdrawn.

1415 - An arresting performance from Swinton Hurdle winner John Constable at Market Rasen, chased home by Red Tornado. Over at Newmarket, Capla Temptress won well under a penalty.

1407 - Competitive stuff over the sticks but Murt Khan has a fancy in his Breaking It Down column. Read it here if you haven't already.

1406 - Behind the clock at Newmarket as they only just start to go behind and we're closing in on the first of Market Rasen's features, the Summer Handicap Hurdle which is off at 1410.

1403 - It may be a relatively quiet day in terms of standout quality but there's still plenty of action and still £100,000 to be won in the Pick 7. Entries need to be in by 1440 in the free to play game and that jackpot could really light up your weekend.

1400 - You may have noticed the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival gets underway today. Ben Linfoot has wandered off to Ripon to take a look and he'll be reporting on the action from the Garden Racecourse later, I think he's also going to try and find a winner or two for us at Redcar tomorrow as well so keep an eye out for that later. There's another distance boost in the first at Ripon, 2.20, with  Placebo Effect to win by 2 lengths or more enhanced to 7/1.

1357 - The winner was trained by Mark Johnston who has his team in great form with Glorious Goodwood just around the corner. He's got plenty more runners around the country today.

1355 - Frankie chose right as Remarkable finished in front of Johnny Barnes but Rusumaat finished in front of them both, winning by about a head. They finished well strung out behind.

1353 - A note to say that the jockeys are wearing black arm bands to honour  Stephen Yarborough who so sadly lost his life at Haydock Park last night.

1352 - One or two going changes from the overnight descriptions with Cartmel and Ripon now soft but at least a lot of gardeners and allotment owners will be happy after the drought much of the country has experienced. Hayley Turner opining that form can go out of the window under conditions like today's, will that be the case here......

1349 - Going to post for the Money Back race at Newbury where Remarkable, who looked to be on the way back at Royal Ascot is favourite.

1343 - We are already underway at Market Rasen and Dan and Harry Skelton have combined to win the first with Hestina. They should be running in the first at Gowran while racing at Newmarket starts at 2.05 where there is a distance Price Boost on Bambino Lola to win by a length or more. There are masses of those Price Boosts on offer with Sky Bet today so do take a look at all of the firm's offers on the Sky Bet link towards the top of the page.

1338 - Richard Hoiles adds that the ground is poached down the centre of the course after they raced at Newbury yesterday and it's least poached under the stands' side rail and could (all guesswork at this stage) suit those drawn high in the Super Sprint where Sky Bet are paying six places (see above).

1337 - Good afternoon, I'll be with you through the early stages of the afternoon's racing to try and add a little colour to the action. Having just switched on ITV Racing, I've been treated to the sight of Matt Chapman standing under a brolly and the going is now Soft at Newbury with the view that it will get softer throughout the day.
