Best bets for US Racing
1pt win Wudhooh at 11/4 (min 9/4) – Gulfstream Park race 5 (20:15)
Todd Pletcher has the top two in the market for the turf maiden special weight carded as race five at Gulfstream and I’m on the side of the once-raced WUDHOOH.
Bred and owned by Shadwell, the daughter of Speightstown made her debut a month ago over five furlongs at this venue. She was never better than mid-field though lost no ground when beaten just over three lengths without being given much of a hard time. That was a fine opening effort and she should come on for the experience.
She’s worked steadily rather than impressively since, as one would expect of Pletcher’s, and she should relish stretching out in distance to one mile in this spot. The Hall of Fame trainer also has strong figures with second starters and top track jockey Paco Lopez takes the reins.
On Moonlight Bay is the other Pletcher entry and she looks sure to be a danger after finishing second on the synthetics here last time. However, I’m siding with Wudhooh to make sufficient improvement to land the spoils.
