Super 6 £250K jackpot winner reveals he made predictions at the gym the last minute

Midweek Super 6 winner Ben Carman only made his winning entry at the last minute but is now £250,000 richer.

The 28-year-old Newcastle United supporter correctly predicted six scorelines in Tuesday's selected Champions League games - his winning (own) goal coming in the 91st minute of Barcelona v Sporting Lisbon - to scoop the jackpot and on Friday received his bumper cheque from Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling.

Ben spoke about his win on a visit to the Sky Sports studios where he also met Paul Merson, revealing that it took a notification message on his phone to remind him to enter.

He said: "I’d forgotten to put my predictions in and only remembered there was a midweek round when I got the notification on the way to the gym. I rushed my predictions this week when I usually take my time and study a bit.

Ben's predictions

  • Barcelona 2-0 Sporting Lisbon
  • Bayern Munich 3-1 PSG
  • Chelsea 1-1 Atletico Madrid
  • Manchester United 2-1 CSKA Moscow
  • Celtic 0-1 Anderlecht
  • Olympiakos 0-2 Juventus

A 91st-minute own goal by Barcelona's Jeremy Mathieu took Ben to the maximum 30 points for six correct scores, while Robert Lewandowski’s eighth-minute goal ultimately secured the £250,000 (his golden-goal guess was the 12th minute).

"I’ve only had one hour’s sleep since I won because I’ve been so worried about everything but it’s starting to sink in.

"I’ve got no idea what I’ll be spending the money on."

The visual games company worker added: "Honestly, I’m still in shock. At first I thought I’d only won £5,000 as I thought the midweek round was less, but when I spoke to the guy from Super 6 and he said £250,000 I just went numb.

"I’ve had hundreds of people getting in touch to congratulate me over social media, my phone’s been off the hook for days."

Ben was tied with two other players, who also correctly predicted the scores - both will receive £5,000 - but his guess of the 12th minute for the Golden Goal tiebreaker saw him walk away with the jackpot.

A total of £2.3million was given away by the football prediction game last season. This season's previous jackpot winner was Grace Berry who won a boosted £1million in October.
