Sky Bet League Two: Nominees for February Player and Manager of the Month

There is double delight for Bury and Girmsby, who both have nominees for Sky Bet League One's January Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Michael Jolley (Grimsby Town)
Generously auctioned off his December award in aid of a local fishermen’s charity. Might be able to do so again after reviving his side’s fortunes with a haul of 10 points from four unbeaten games and an 8-2 goal differential.

Ryan Lowe (Bury)
Lowe could win back-to-back awards as his team continue to shine and the pursuit of leaders Lincoln continues. His side took over second place by extending their unbeaten run to 10 games and taking 10 points from a possible 12 - testimony to the consistency of performance he has been able to inspire.

John McGreal (Colchester United)
His young side fell away from the play-offs last spring. McGreal wasn’t about to let that happen again, making some shrewd January signings and integrating them so adeptly, Colchester collected eight points from four games.

Richie Wellens (Swindon Town)
The weather meant that Swindon only played three matches in February, but by garnering seven points, Wellens’ improving team kept pace with the promotion pack and snaffled a precious game in hand for later in the spring.

Bruno Andrade (Lincoln City) – midfielder
Andrade has always had the ability to play wide or in the centre of midfield. Goals haven’t always been his forte, but they were in February. He scored six of Lincoln’s seven goals, showing off his technique, timing and tenacity.

Luke Hendrie (Grimsby Town) – full-back
Signing a permanent deal at Blundell Park settled Hendrie into displaying his best form, both defensively as Grimsby conceded two goals in four games and in attack where he contributed an assist at Yeovil and a headed equaliser at Swindon.

Nicky Maynard (Bury) – striker
Four goals in as many games for Maynard, scoring his side’s first in the games against Crawley, Exeter and Oldham. He also had an assist in the win at Morecambe, proving his value and experience in a promotion charge.

James Norwood (Tranmere Rovers) – striker
Where would Tranmere be without his goals this season? Has scored 22 of his side’s 48 goals. Another four came in four February games, the highlight of which was the instinctive, calm precision of his finish against Stevenage.

  • The winners will be announced on Friday morning, here on sportinglife.com
