Manchester United transfer news: Inter Milan in talks with Manchester United over signing Ashley Young

Italian giants Inter Milan are in talks with Manchester United about signing defender Ashley Young.

The Serie A leaders are set to offer the former England full-back an 18-month deal if he moves to Italy now, according to Sky in Italy.

The 34-year-old's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, meaning he is free to speak with Inter, who last won Serie A in 2010.

However, at this stage it is unclear whether United will allow Young to leave this month, having remained an important part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans, making 12 appearances so far this season.

Solskjear himself denied any knowledge of a potential exit for the full-back.

Speaking after United's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, Solskjaer said: "I don't know what you're talking about - you'll have to ask Ash.

"We've got a few months left of this season. We can't weaken ourselves; we need to strengthen ourselves, if any movement if going to happen."

Young would become the third United player to join Antonio Conte's side inside a year following the moves of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.
