RL Championship review: Toronto crush London Skolars

FuiFui MoiMoi scored a hat-trick as rugby league trailblazers Toronto enjoyed their first game in the English league system.

The battering-ram forward - sent off in the mud at amateurs Siddal in the Challenge Cup last week - crossed for a treble as London Skolars were crushed 76-0 in the capital.

The pioneering Canadian side are competing in Championship 1 this season, playing their games in blocks either side of the Atlantic.

It is widely thought that the squad Paul Rowley has at his disposal could compete at the top end of the Championship, if not the bottom half of the Super League.

However, they have to prove it against the likes of the Skolars, Gloucester and York and did so in style at the first time of asking.

Former New Zealand international MoiMoi - the biggest name on their books - was one of a number of stand-out performers in a 13-try rout.

Craig Hall kicked 12 goals and tagged a try of his own while the likes of Jonny Pownall (two), Liam Kay (two), Bob Beswick and Quentin Laulu-Togaga'e also went in.

The Wolfpack head to Canada for their next three fixtures, the ambitious outfit paying the travel costs of opponents Whitehaven, Keighley and Doncaster.
