Dominic Thiem beats Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-0 in Barcelona Open final

Third seed Dominic Thiem brushed Daniil Medvedev aside to lift the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell title.

Having surrendered an early break of serve, the Austrian, who beat Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals, won 12 of the last 13 games to secure a 6-4 6-0 victory.

Thiem told www.atptour.com: "Winning this means a lot to me because it's such a traditional and special tournament. Only great players have won here.

"Rafa has won it 11 times and it means a lot that [compatriot Thomas] Muster won it twice. It's a big moment for me."

Thiem's victory over the seventh-seeded Russian handed him his 13th ATP Tour title, nine of which have come on clay.

Colombian pair Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah claimed the doubles title with a 6-4 7-6(4) win over second seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares.

In Budapest, Italy's Matteo Berrettini claimed his second tour title with a 4-6 6-3 6-1 win over Filip Krajinovic in the final of the Hungarian Open.

The 23-year-old, who arrived at the tournament on the back of a five-match losing streak at tour level, will earn a career-high top-40 berth as a result of his success.

Britons Neal and Ken Skupski surged to victory in the doubles with a 6-3 6-4 win over Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof.
