Roger Federer wins Basel title for 99th ATP Tour success

Roger Federer claimed his 99th career title with victory over Marius Copil in Basel.

The 37-year-old delighted the home support to land his ninth Swiss Indoors title, winning 7-6 (5) 6-4.

The Swiss was a break down in both sets against the Romanian, who set up the match by upsetting second seed Alexander Zverev in the last four.

However, Federer rallied to maintain his four-year unbeaten run in the tournament in his home city, claiming victory in an hour and 33 minutes.

Meanwhile, Kevin Anderson booked his place in the season-ending ATP finals by winning the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.

The 32-year-old South African beat fifth-seeded Kei Nishikori 6-3 7-6 (3) to make sure he will feature in the London event, which runs from November 11-18.

There was doubles disappointment for Zverev, who - alongside brother Mischa - was beaten 6-2 7-5 by Britain's Dominic Inglot and Croatia's Franko Skugor.

There was also doubles success on Sunday for two more Britons.

Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski beat America's Mike Bryan and France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6 (5) 6-3 in the doubles final in Vienna.
