Britain's Katie Boulter earns Rogers Cup spot with win

Britain's Katie Boulter qualified for the Rogers Cup in Montreal after battling back from a set down to defeat 15-year-old Leylah Fernandez.

The 22-year-old fought back after losing the opening set to the young Canadian before prevailing 2-6 6-3 6-4.

Boulter, who received a walkover in the opening round of qualifying, was broken four times in the opening set as both players struggled to hold serve.

She recovered in the second, holding each of her service games before decisively breaking the world number 730 in the seventh and claiming nine games to force a decider.

Fernandez continued to make a game of it and saved three match points before Boulter, ranked 118th in the world, eventually progressed in two hours and four minutes.
