Kyren Wilson beat Mark Allen in the World Snooker Championship

Kyren Wilson produced an impressive display to beat Mark Allen 13-6 in the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible.

Wilson will play either John Higgins or Judd Trump for a place in the final and could take some stopping judging by this devastating display which included a pair of centuries and three breaks in the nineties.

The first session of the match suggested a tense finish could be on the cards, the pair locked at 4-4 after the first eights frames, but Wilson returned for the evening session in inspired form and won seven of the eight frames on offer.

A run of 54 allowed Allen to take the opening frame this afternoon but Wilson took the 18th before clinching his place in the last four with a breaks of 53 and 40.

Wilson, who had lost in the quarter-finals in each of the last two years, told the BBC: "I definitely wouldn't say it was the biggest win of my career, [but] it's up there.

"It was always a goal of mine to reach the one-table set-up and I just can't wait to get out there and experience it.

"You have to sometimes seize on your opponent when you sense a little bit of weakness and I could feel that Mark was maybe struggling a little bit towards the end of last night, so every little mistake that he made I felt like I punished it and played really well."
