Ricky Walden took one step closer to sealing his place at the Crucible when beating Alfie Burden 10-7 in their Betfred World Championship qualifier.
Walden, a beaten semi-finalist at the World Championship back in 2013, enjoyed another good run in Sheffield last year until beaten by Judd Trump in the second round but he was made to work hard by Burden who ensured the match was always closely contested.
Robert Milkins and Noppon Saengkham were other notable winners as they beat Luke Simmonds and Adam Stefanow respectively while Liam Highfield was also triumphant.
There was a dramatic conclusion to the match between veterans Anthony Hamilton and James Wattana as the former prevailed 10-9 while Dominic Dale, another of snooker's elder statesman, came through his match with Chris Totten 10-5.
Liang Wenbo had few problems in breezing past Basem Eltahhan 10-0 while Martin Gould also whitewashed Mostafa Dorgham 10-0.
Gary Wilson and Eden Sharav were others to keep their Crucible dreams alive whilst on Monday, Michael Holt and Peter Ebdon progressed.
