Trump powered past Scotland's Chris Totten 4-0, finishing in style with a century, while Selby survived a scare to edge out Mark Joyce 4-3 having earlier led 3-1.
World number four Neil Robertson recorded two centuries in a comfortable 4-0 win over China's Fang Xiongman while Belgium's Luca Brecel maintained local interest with a 4-3 win over Sam Craigie.
World number seven Kyren Wilson was biggest casualty of the day, losing 4-3 to Northern Ireland's Gerard Greene.
