York City Knights break rugby league world records with 144-0 victory

York City Knights broke rugby league world records with an 144-0 victory over West Wales Raiders in their Betfred League 1 clash at Bootham Crescent.

The previous highest score was set by Huddersfield back in November 1994 when they beat Blackpool Gladiators 142-4.

The Knights also beat the widest winning margin, which was shared between Huddersfield and Barrow, who beat Nottingham City 138-0 a day after Huddersfield had set their record.

Kieren Moss put in a man of the match performance as he scored an incredible seven tries, with his side crossing over 25 times in total.

York lead 60-0 at the break, before posting a further 84 unanswered points in the second-half.

They sit top of the league following the win, level on points with Bradford Bulls.

West Wales find themselves bottom with no victory in five games, scoring just 26 points and conceding a total of 432.
