Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsSeptember Leaves stepped up on her juvenile efforts when fourth on her reappearance and handicap debut at the Curragh on Sunday and she was unlucky not to finish closer after she was repeatedly denied a run inside the final couple of furlongs.
By the time September Leaves was in the clear 100 yards out her winning chance had gone, but she kept on in encouraging style and showed enough to suggest that she's been let into handicaps on a lenient mark.
This was a stronger race than she needs to contest and she will be one to note next time on the back of this promising return.

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsDeakin ended last season on a sharp upward curve, registering wide-margin wins in a Roscommon maiden and Thurles handicap, and he shaped really well when runner-up in a strong Curragh handicap on his reappearance on Saturday.
Deakin was overhauled close home by a progressive rival with an excellent course record, but there was a lot to like about how he went through that contest, travelling strongly and quickening up well to briefly go clear approaching the final furlong.
That was Deakin's best effort yet and, entitled to progress with this outing under his belt, he will be one to note in a valuable handicap at a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half.

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsBoyfriend blew the start on his return at Ascot a couple of weeks ago, but he broke on better terms at Goodwood on Friday and looked unlucky not to make it two wins from three starts in handicaps.
Boyfriend travelled well in rear but was short of room on the inside when looking to make headway over two furlongs out and he again met trouble after he was pulled off the fence in a bid to get a run.
He wasn't in the clear until inside the final furlong but finished with a flourish to take third close home, leaving the impression that he's a well-handicapped horse who can strike when granted better luck.

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsFrankel's half-brother Kikkuli continued the promising start to his career by finishing runner-up in an interesting edition of the Heron Stakes at Sandown on Thursday.
Kikkuli, who was stepping up in grade and trip following his success in a seven-furlong Newmarket maiden last month, may have had to settle for second but he still took a big jump forward, showing useful form.
He looked a potential threat to the winner over a furlong out and, although he ultimately proved no match for the exciting Almaqam, there should be more to come from this really well-bred colt after only three starts.

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsWith Hughie Morrison’s stable in good form, Mr Mistoffelees was well backed and ran well to make the frame at Kempton for the second start in a row and is threatening to add to his sole success so far, which came at the same track, before much longer.
A high draw meant that he had to do plenty early on to get across to lead and those efforts probably told in the end as he was headed a furlong out before finishing fourth behind winner Botas in a bunched finish, probably deserving a bit of extra credit.
The fitting of blinkers and a switch to front-running tactics following a gelding operation has seemed to really suit Mr Mistoffelees the last twice and he’s one to bear in mind.

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsAn ordinary enough handicap, though the first three are all worth taking a positive view of, in particular the gambled-on Red Cloud, who finished his race off really well having missed a beat at the start.
He didn't show much in three starts last season, but he shaped very well on his return and handicap debut, and would have likely given the winner more of a race if getting away cleanly.
Red Cloud has got a bit about him physically for one starting out at this level and is open to further improvement, so is very much a horse to keep on the right side.

FIGHT FOR YOU

Discover Sporting Life Plus BenefitsFight For You boasts an excellent pedigree - she's a daughter of Group 1 winner Fallen For You and a half-sister to several winners including the smart Glorious Journey - and she shaped with encouragement on her debut at Windsor on Monday.
Fight For You showed her inexperience by breaking slowly and also ran green when shaken up over two furlongs out, while she was further inconvenienced by meeting trouble over a furlong out while making headway.
She only finished seventh but is the sort to improve markedly for the initial experience (she was given the Timeform large P) and she can take a big enough step forward to be of interest in a similar event.
